It all went downhill as soon as we allowed the non-productives to vote.
Kids are like the only non-productives that are still disenfranchised.
And I'm sure Dems are working on fixing that too.

(Nothing against previously productive retirees. They earned that vote.)

Turns out when folks don't have skin in the game, they vote for whatever crazy stuff their heart desires.
So if you manage to find a way to cover your bills through various government support programs - why not raise taxes forever?
Won't effect you.

Dems know this, which is why they're perpetually trying to get more and more Americans *ON* some kind of government support.
After all, for them, the more you rely on government the better.
You won't bite the hand that feeds you.

Meanwhile productive people trying to make the best lives for themselves will increasingly get out-voted by non-productives until the scale is irrevocably tipped. At which point, over time, it will become apparent that you really can't give everyone "free" stuff if no one is incentivized to produce stuff. That's when things transition to the mass graves phase of socialism.
