The most important thing is pick somewhere you could happily live the rest of your life if you had to.

You won't realize any losses if you don't have to sell.
Agreed.

But I thought we were just BSing about capital.
I was still going off my whole - if you can’t get capital in America it’s because you’re retarded, not unlucky theme.

I'm certainly not complaining bear in mind.

Even as Canada itself becomes ever more of a basket case, my personal luck has been good.

Public Canada is becomming a mad house.

Private Canada not so much.

I'm simply not prepared to defend and uphold a bunch of disloyal communist kooks.

In terms of the property and tax jurisdiction, I don't really have anything to complain about.

Eh, even then.

Mr. Money Mustache and his wife pulled off retirement by 30 by simply focusing on doing it. Got good paying STEM jobs. Lived a spartan existence. Invested well. Hit the number they needed to retire for their pre-planned fixed income lifestyle at 30.

Most people aren’t that hardcore about it, but it’s doable.

Jeez, think about military personnel. Imagine not needing to pay for your lodgings or food for TWENTY years, and instead of squandering your income, investing it. Some in market index funds, some in real estate, some in commodities.

How you looking on capital at 38? Pretty damn good. Plus you have guaranteed retirement income for the rest of your life? Fuuuuuuck.

All these scenarios highly doable. Folks just don’t want to make the sacrifices.

He's back peddling.

"It is understood that individuals who shoplift items valued near or amounting to $750 are most likely shoplifting for economic gain, such as boosting items for resale, and not out of necessity," the district attorney said.
So, he recognizes that someone stealing $750 worth of stuff is probably doing so for financial gain. Why announce that as the limit on what you can steal, then?

If I were DA, I probably wouldn't prosecute a destitute woman who took a couple cans of Simulac to feed her baby, until a pattern emerged. I wouldn't announce that as my policy, though. $750 is a lot of f-ing food. That exceeds our monthly food budget by several hundred dollars.
I picture a couple of dudes trotting down the sidewalk, lugging a side of beef. "Don't worry, we're gonna eat it!"

People need shoes.
Air Jordans are only about $165-$305.
So if you're in Dallas, might be a good time to do some shoe shopping.
