Once I came to the realization that free market capitalism was better for the downtrodden than socialist government paternalism, I realized that the biggest selling point of the left was simply demonizing the right, and the house of cards came crashing down.

Once I realized that the lefty wefty bleeding heart teachers were actually a bunch of criminals, that was all I needed to know about socialist government.

You were a little quicker on the uptake than me then, wasn't until I was 18 that I started moving to the right, but once I did, the conversion was quite rapid after the leftist house of cards came crashing down.

Yeah, I was precocious.

It was my father. He was subversive, he gave me the adult briefings, at a very young age,

My father warned me about the military too, but I didn't care, it was the poison apple, I had to bite it.

My dad has never liked America much, very anti-American, but my mom's dad, loved him some America, even gave me the star spangled banner as a gift one time. Good ol' grandpa JB, RIP.

My dad did effectively warn me about the military, I never really had any desire to bite into that particular poison apple. He got it from his dad, he just wanted to keep his nose down and work to feed his family instead of fighting in WWII, especially with all the anti-Italian sentiment at the time.

Mt Da was conflicted. On the one hand he was an Anti Vietnam War peacenik.

But on the other hand he loved the Grunts.

I came to love the Grunts too. So I had to be one, even if it killed me.

My dad's dad really didn't feel like fighting for a country that he felt showed him no loyalty and he felt probably wouldn't even if he fought for them. So he went a won a Grey Cup instead, then he pawned the watch.

Everything was Vietnam. I was raised in the shadow of Vietnam.

I was aware that it was a quagmire, none the less, the Grunts endured it, so they were my heroes.
