Utrecht shooting: 'At least one dead' after 'potential terror attack' on tram

At least one person has died after a shooting on a tram in the Dutch city of Utrecht in an incident police are treating as a potential terrorist attack.

Officers have reported "multiple" injuries having been called to reports of a shooting in a residential neighbourhood on Monday morning.

Police said that although the investigation was still ongoing, terrorism was one possible motive. Local media reported the perpetrator escaped in a car.
No description of the perp yet.

As I'm sure you know, the full quote was about security measures being part and parcel of living in a large city.
Now security measures will be toughened up against far-right groups as well to prevent them from carrying out more terrorist attacks.

No amount of security measures is going to prevent terror attacks from any group, proper security might reduce them slightly, which is great and all, but plenty of terror attacks are going to happen, no matter how many security measures are in place, no matter how many guns you regulate, no matter how much speech you restrict. Your pre-crime program isn't going to stop right-wing terror, all it's going to do is restrict the rights of people who aren't terrorists.

There are quite simply no laws that can be strengthened or rights limited on law abiding citizens that will make them safer in any way from non law-abiding criminals that won't follow those laws anyways.

Stuff about why banning guns won't make it safer for law abiding citizens...
The point of these laws is not to protect you Citizen.....

the point of these laws is not improving public safety.....

It's becoming obvious what the intent is....

Well, yeah... Obviously if your plan is to implement a government that you know a large percentage of the population won't agree with, your first priority will be to remove the ability for them to fight back.

I mean, really, when the EU keeps talking about an "EU army" who do you really think it's meant to be used against, outside governments or to quash internal dissent?

Bullshit.
British security measures have foiled dozens of terrorist plots.
Both Islamic and far-right plots have been stopped by security forces.
One far-right terrorist organisation (responsible for the Jo Cox murder) was banned and its members arrested. This certainly prevented further attacks.
