Context w/ The Present Unrest
Dislike "slide" type website articles but its an interesting read for some context on the history of civil strife in America. Riots and all.

Holy shit lol1935 – Terre Haute General Strike, July 22-23, A labor dispute between an enameling company and a labor union led to a two day general strike. Indiana National Guard was called out and martial law was declared by the Governor. The city was under a state of martial law for six months. It was the third general strike in U.S. History. We've been much further down the rabbit hole before. The difference, of course, is that it's harder to wipe away the memory of events now.

I think this is an important discussion.
I think the only real comparison for us is 1968-69, it saw 22 riots according to Wikipedia
We are sitting at 16 riots in the Era of Trump.
The other link had more recent ones, but few were national events. What I saw today in Congress was troubling.

I'm telling you man shit got real way way more than these past couple years. Its a picnic now. Look into 1871 strike or 1919 strikes...

In 1935 Hitler was repairing Germany from the death throes of the Weimar Republic while we were declaring martial law in major cities over labor disputes lmao

The 'riots" were worse in the 1960s in scale and depth. Damage done and people involved etc. The number of labeled riots is a very low resolution view of whats significant here. Other metrics matter more than total numbers.C-Mag wrote: ↑Thu Jul 12, 2018 9:01 pmI think this is an important discussion.

Breath away from communism over here. Say what you will about FDR but he might have saved America from full scale Socialism like Huey Long. Way closer than Eugene Debs got to real power.TheReal_ND wrote: ↑Thu Jul 12, 2018 9:02 pmIn 1935 Hitler was repairing Germany from the death throes of the Weimar Republic while we were declaring martial law in major cities over labor disputes lmao

Ok. He was a fucking liar.Say what you will about FDR
The communists were here all right and he was an adamant admirer that supplied them with Ford tractors and grain.

Everyone's a liar dude. All politicians are megalomaniacs. If you value market economies and freedom at all (I don't know if you care about the former) theres a case to be made that FDR saved what could of the economy. Many countries would have and did go full socialism or blended corporations with the state ala Mussolini / Hitler Corporatism. I believe that was what the Fascist Mussolini called his system of political economy. Anyway lets not totally derail this thread.
