Looked to me like the other candidates were very interested in not engaging with you.

Not sure how the whole debate went but it looked like they were aware/concerned you might express an honest, open opinion.

Hey Marty
Just watched your clip from the Cathlamet Debate.

I don't think any of your opponents knew what to do with that. When I heard it, I thought, there is a guy who has a deep understanding of what is happening. The class warfare should play well in your area too.

What prompted that response ?

It was a great clip. I kind of wish he would use the same manner of speaking in his podcasts. It caught me off guard a bit.

Everyone else was saying the same ol' thing about tax cuts; good or bad depending on the Party.

The worst is when you combined this insufferable smugness with that special brand of progressive sneering pseudointellectualism, as perfected by the likes of Bill Maher.

Why would any business choose to pay more than zero, if they’re getting it subsidized tho?

Btw, your bit on inflation was superb. You should unlock that thread, so that I can applaud it.

.....

I assume he means some form of ubi whereby market wage dynamics will still be allowed to apply.

Business will pay more than zero in the same way they pay more than zero now.

I.e. every gets 40 hours @ $10 / hr no matter what they do. Then if moore furniture offers $2 / hr to open the door or Les Shwab offer $3 / hr to change tires...

Right, but the low-end labor market doesn’t compete for workers. They take whoever is desperate enough to do the work.

There’s no difference to the worker, making min wage, whether the employer pays $.50/hr or $10/hr - they still get $10/hr.

So why would the employer pay more than $.50/hr?

You’re basically proposing that all min wage work be paid by the government...

If Work Ethic has value to society then society should subsidize it, and if society doesn’t care if people work then that society isn’t long for this world.

Workfare good. Welfare bad.
