They were all elected, Jedi.

She is serving the will of the people, as good Representatives should do.

Much to your chagrin, the people of Seattle wanted a $15 minimum wage. The people of district 3 wanted Sawant as their representative on the city council.

On 15:
We did this. Workers did this.
Today’s first major victory for 15 will inspire people all over the nation.

We need to recognize what happened here in Seattle that led us to this point.

15 was not won at the bargaining table as the so-called “sensible compromise” between workers and business. It was not the result of the generosity of corporations or their Democratic Party representatives in government.

What was voted on in the city council was a reflection of what workers won on the street over this last year.

In 15 Now, groups of workers and activists met weekly, held mass conferences and debates, organized rallies, and engaged thousands of people around the city about the need for a living wage. We won the public debate – in a recent poll 74% of voters now support 15. We defeated the arguments of business in the corporate media.

Let this be our guide. At every stage of the struggle, corporations and their representatives, have sought to undermine our efforts. And future victories will also depend on the organization of working people fighting for our interests.

This is also why we need an alternative to the two parties representing business. Despite the Democratic Party posing as a progressive alternative to the Republicans – we can see here in Seattle how it was only with the election of a socialist that the establishment was forced to pass real gains for workers. We need many more independent and socialist candidates to turn the tide against corporate politics.

Her win wasn't unfairly gained, she played the game just like everyone else, and won.

How is that windmill tilting going?

When you have no original thoughts, and nothing to say on the topic at hand, cycle through those unrelated talking points like a good little lemming.

Thank you for a live demonstration on exactly how clowns like Sawant achieve power. No one challenged her election, nor expressed confusion over how she came to power, but it took you to provide the example of what kind of idiot would put her in power.

Bravo.

You really should cycle through some new insults. "Lemming, idiot, and no original thoughts" are ones you keep using, and they really lack the oomph that they used to have. You need some new ones, I like good insults, not tired, old ones.

What have you produced that requires a new insult?

Idiocy reproduced a thousand times requires no new moniker. There’s nothing unique about idiot statement 1001 that differentiates it from the previous thousand.

You’ve ignored the multiple topics encompassed in this thread so you could shriek about Sawant being elected. When it was pointed out that no one said otherwise you continued to plow ahead regardless, doubling down on just how elected she was.
/shrug

Idiocy.

I don't follow the track you've laid out for the discussion and I'm off-topic? Haha, myopia for sure.

I explain the other side of the argument, how 8000 new jobs might not be good for some in Seattle. How the housing prices in Seattle are "cray cray" and that a burnt down house is going for 549k. I also explain that what is in the interest of a tech worker who probably owns property, or a member of an HOA who owns property isn't always in the best interest of a renter. Then we talk about Sawant, and how she's representing the will of the people who elected her.

Just because the conversation doesn't go how you want it to go, doesn't mean it's off-topic, genius. We don't have to all abide by DBtrek's narrative. Your narrative, as always, doesn't tell the whole story. I mean sure, if we want to follow a story that lacks nuance or a deeper understanding of the issues at play, we'll stick to your narrative.

New jobs are bad, because?

Jedi - what do you suppose will happen if all the big deal employers leave? Utopia?

A man gets a knock on his door, opens it up and it's the local HOA representative. He's a renter though. HOA rep says to him, "Hello sir, we're signing up people to help clean up any garbage there is around the community, and help plant trees to beautify the area."

Guy is like "Fuck no I don't want to help you, if there's less garbage and the place is prettier, and property values go up, then my rent goes up."

Slams the door on the HOA rep.
This is what happens when you have no skin in the game.

What was the nuance in repeatedly stating Sawant was elected when it was never disputed? Proselytizing is not discussing.

Losing 8000 jobs doesn’t benefit anyone, since those living in subsidized and “affordable” housing rely on the tax money of workers to sustain their lifestyle. Keeping a neighborhood shitty so your rent doesn’t increase also drives everyone seeking a non-shitty neighborhood away, and leaves those who remain in an even shittier neighborhood than before.

Your points were addressed, the few you made.
