Seems some of you haven't caught on. Cool. One of my paying jobs requires me to make what I do look easy, so, there's that. If I made the transition from mod to not-mod seem easy, than I have done my job well.
But, for some of you, that requires a very well-laid out map.
So:
Here's a tip to see how much "power" someone has on a message board. There's no magic potion and you can't tell from what you perceive as a special power. Your not knowing that you have the ability to do something does not make that ability powerful.
1 - Click a user's handle to see their profile.
2- In their profile, see what groups they belong to. Most belong to "active users" only. That's my current group. Some may have a couple or more - active users, moderators, administrators, etc. These groups tell you what access a user has.
3 - If you want to see who else is in the same group as the user you have selected, click "go" next to the groups: {selected drop down}
- If you need an example of a user with more than one group, find a user in Red. They usually belong at least in two groups, often more.
So, if you went to this link: memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=54
And selected groups: global moderators: go:
You would see the following:
Global moderators
This is a special group, special groups are managed by the board administrators.

Banned!!!! 3512 Wed Nov 30, 2016 11:39 am
See that user called Banned!!!! That's me. That's what I renamed myself in the administration control panel so that I could have Kath under a second, non moderation-able, user name.
I cannot edit shit. Banned!!!!, can edit all she wants, but, unfortunately for Banned!!!!, Banned!!!! changed her password so that Kath has no idea what password was assigned. The only way for Kath to find the password is to write to one of the Admins to get my access back.
And, if I was planning to do that, I would not have fucking locked myself from the account that gave me the power to do that.
Truly, stop underestimating the lengths I have been going to in order to hang with my friends without being some bogey-monster for butt hurt hockey fans to cling to.

More 101 stuff
You have some power over your own threads.
The "X" - (not always available, but for awhile,) allows you to delete a post you've created. In the mod log, that I can no longer see, you can see that a post was deleted and who deleted the post.
There's also a button that allows you to edit your own post. When you see someone has edited a post, it doesn't mean a mod did it. Anyone with posting ability has the ability to edit and delete their own posts.

Desperation is just oozing. This is making Smitty and Capps more right with every desperate post. Dr. Y, let me know if this has crossed over into psychosis (or some heading) already. Because, if I was in charge of the DSM...... *Marty too for his social experiment. #upallnightworryingaboutaforum

I request a practical solution to the situation I was in. I'm an idiot and cannot figure it out. Smitty is not aware he can delete his own posts and is also not aware that I can no longer delete his posts.Haumana wrote:

How should I respond to the challenge? I'm quite desperate, you see, to not being accused of magic that is not possible in this world.

My advice is to take some time away.
I emptied out my garage and fired up my wood shop.
Speaking of which, time to get to it.

Oh yeah, if it keeps saying your messages are on hold and you can't see them, your inbox is full.
