A shameful episode in British history but the Spanish used internment camps in Cuba first.
Also, the Germans built their first death camps in Namibia at around the same time.

Skin color is a crappy metric for determining ownership.
I'm actually baffled why people claim that the Bantu should own SA, because for a snap shot in time they populated it, just as the Sioux a tribe native to the Great Lakes were given a Northern Plains reservation. The Sioux took that land in 1862 and they were awarded a reservation in 1888.
