Finland - No Homeless
Finlanders! Is this true?

If so, that’s pretty cool.
We tried the same thing in SLC, and it worked pretty well. Not sure why it hasn’t spread from there.

First, it’s not illegal to be “homeless” and there is a substantial number that prefer it. They leave the shelters on purpose.
Second, unless The Working Poor are given free “homes” too, they aren’t going to stay working very long.
And third; some people get a dopamine hit from altruistic actions like providing homes, and some people get their dopamine from forcing people to be conscientious: only democracy can decide.

The last paragraph says it all: only 2000 “homeless” to begin with, 10% of which refuse homes, and sponsored by the Mormon church.Viktorthepirate wrote:You ever read about this?Martin Hash wrote:First, it’s not illegal to be “homeless” and there is a substantial number that prefer it. Mormons are very keen on maintaining the distinction between charity and a Right, and they have a support mechanism for the working poor which enforces Work Ethic.

It depends what you mean by homeless.
The vast majority of homeless do have jobs and you wouldn't easily identify them as homeless.
Of the people you can immediately spot as homeless, most of them belong either in rehab or a mental asylum (You can thank Reagan and neocon/libertarian liberals for that).
Of the remainder, most of those guys want to be homeless.
Best ways to solve it are to reopen the insane asylums, change drug abuse penalties to mandatory rehab and rehabilitation instead of jail and probation, and close the fucking borders while shipping all the illegals back home.

... or reintroduce packs of starving wolves into urban centers.
Sometimes it only takes a little motivation to push people back on the right path.

You really have to find amusement in democrats part of the time, though.
We have to do something about the terrible plight of homeless in America! They need jobs too!
We can't just secure the borders and send all these poor illegal immigrants back home!
