The move is set to change the words "in all thy sons command" to "in all of us command" in the anthem, O Canada.
Canada is quickly becoming Greater Northern California.

Re: Canada is quickly becoming Greater Northern California.
The lyrics to the Liberal Party of Canada Song are ever in flux, having been changed five times since the original English translation in 1906, the version they are changing this time has only been around since 1980.
The original anthem was commissioned by the Conservative Party of Canada in 1880, in order to give Quebec its own anthem sub God Save The Queen, in 1906 the Liberal Party of Canada adopted an English version of the anthem, and the English version has undergone constant revision, while the French version remains largely the same.
Ironically, after 120 years, constantly altering the English version of the Liberal Party of Canada Song in order to placate various minorities and subjugated persons, has now become the conservative position, the whole purpose of the Liberal Party of Canada Song being such since its inception in fact.
If you do as I do, which is refuse to sing the English version at all, only recognizing God Save The Queen, with the The Maple Leaf Forever, and the original French version of O Canada subordinate to, as a triumvirate, as per 1880, that has now become a radical position.
Not that most Canadians would have any clue what I'm talking about since most Canadians don't know their own history, but an academic in Canada would assert that refusal to recognize the primacy of the Liberal Party of Canada Song and associated Liberal Party of Canada Flag, to be a far right extremist position now.
I have noted that some on the far right have begun to throw down the Liberal Party of Canada Flag in favour of the Ensign once again, but they still sing the Liberal Party of Canada Song, so they have not yet at least fully grasped the close association between the two.
This is not to say that the rightist position should be to do away with O Canada, as the French version is a fundamentally rightist and ethnonationalist anthem, the Liberal Party of Canada Song is the English translation, the French version is a whole nother ball game, ultimately, if you are to truly be on the far right in Canader, you'll have to not only allow for the Quebecois ethno state, but in fact uphold and defend it, to include only singing their ethnonationalist anthem in the original French.
Suffice to say, with regards to the OP, since this divide and associated revisions in Canada; dates back to 13 September 1759, if there is such a divide emerging in California, then it would not be Canada which is becoming more like California, but rather California which is becoming more like Canada.
To wit, casting down the facades of British patriarchal hegemonic conquest, to include anthems, flags and statues, has been an ongoing process in Canada, for 259 years, ergo, America would only be Canadianizing itself by adopting that process now.

Not really, no, more like they put up a sign which said "under new management" and became the Republic of Briton for all intents and purposes. The Americans not only remained quite British, they sought to emulate the British in all things, for quite some time after.DrYouth wrote:America cast down the façade of British patriarchal hegemony all at once during the Revolutionary war... din't it?Smitty-48 wrote:To wit, casting down the facades of British patriarchal hegemonic conquest, to include anthems, flags and statues, has been an ongoing process in Canada, for 259 years, ergo, America would only be Canadianizing itself by adopting that process now.
The Americans were British, they were just the abused stepchild, they felt like they were British, hence why they were upset for being abused. But in terms of Britons engaging in patriarchal hegemonic conquest? That was still on the agenda.
It's not like they converted to Catholicism and starting speaking French to the Pope in Rome. In many ways the Americans were more British than the British, a sort of concentrated Britishness without all the filthy Papists.
They're the puritanical hyper protestant ultra British.

Pretty much, and even Churchill was half American, his mother was Jennie Spencer-Churchill of Cobble Hill, New York, New York.DBTrek wrote:Not our fault every Brit worth a damn came to the New World.Smitty-48 wrote:In many ways the Americans were more British than the British, a sort of concentrated Britishness without all the filthy Papists.
