“In 2017, more residents moved out of Illinois than any other state with 63 percent of moves being outbound,” according to the study, which contains remarks from Michael Stoll, an economist at the University of California.

It's mainly because of the tax situation in Cook county.

It's about a one 1.5 hour drive from the Remote and Secure Casa de Fife to the Harrah's casino in Metropolis. I go about once a year, and the people there (especially the employees) either already live in Kentucky, or are desperate to GTFO of Illinois.

I worked just North of Paducha in Illinois once. That's a weird little Cultural Estuary (stole that from Dan)
You've got all these Kentucky redneck types living under rule of Chicago laws and taxation.

Here's the full study.
Folks are moving to weed smoking states.

Oh shit I just did the time lapse on the map.
Watch it go from 79 to 17 and keep your eye on Illinois. There can't be anybody left at this point.

My sister lives in Central IL, about 2,500 people. It's nice, spread out, quiet.... a fantastic way to vacation. My sis and bro-in-law love the life, but it's very quiet and not much to do. If they want to go out to eat it's a 30 minute ride each way. If you need new undies it's a big deal.doc_loliday wrote:How's rural Illinois?
I get why some people want to live there, but it's just not for me.
Plus, being IL, they have to deal with the stench from the criminals in Chicago and Springfield. There are far better rural areas, me thinks.
Account abandoned.

Rural Illinois is like a completely different state. They hate Chicagoans because Chicagoans dominate the state legislature.
Indiana is a better deal.

Re: Gotta Get out of Illinois!
I've lived in Southern Illinois for most of my life, it's a hell hole. Tons of corruption. The only decent place is Carbondale but it's becoming more and more dangerous as the university is failing. There's the lack of representation in general, as most state wide issues get decided in cook county, which pisses off the locals, as well it should. It's crazy that your sister lives not 30 miles from where I've lived for a while, been in Pinckneyville for bout the past 5 years. Small world. Moved in May though, Washington State is 10x better.Kath wrote:My sister lives in Central IL, about 2,500 people. It's nice, spread out, quiet.... a fantastic way to vacation. Crown Point, IN was pretty nice when I was there years ago, and it's only about 45 out of Chicago if that's where you want to work.Speaker to Animals wrote:Rural Illinois is like a completely different state. They hate Chicagoans because Chicagoans dominate the state legislature.

Just stay away from Gary.
