Egyptian Mosque attack

Post by Montegriffo » Sun Nov 26, 2017 7:53 am

Terrorists killed 305 people, including 27 children, at a mosque in North Sinai on Friday, detonating a bomb and gunning down fleeing worshipers in the deadliest such attack in Egypt's modern history, state media and witnesses said.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack on the mosque in Egypt, but since 2013, Egyptian security forces have battled an ISIS affiliate in the mainly desert region, and terrorists have killed hundreds of police and soldiers.

I'm curious as to why this terrorist atrocity has not been brought up when every attack in the West brings massive condemnation of Islam in all it's forms.
Could it be that it inconveniently dispells the myth of all Muslims being radical Islamists.
Sufism is a moderate form of Islam which to my knowledge has taken no part in the terror attacks of recent years but is seen as Infidel by Isis and their Wahabbi sect. The Wahabbi sect are seen as heretics by all other forms of Islam and their killings of fellow Muslims makes them ''no true Muslim bruv''.

Sufism is considered a heresy by Muslims. They are in more jeopardy from Muslims than the rest of us. Probably the only people more at risk at the hands of Muslims than them are gays.

If by Muslims you mean a tiny sect of Wahabbis you are correct. If you mean all other Muslims are actively trying to exterminate them you are wrong.

No, I mean all of them.

Sufis for the most part had to escape the Islamic world. Lots of them are in the West now. The Marxists like to trot them out as examples of "moderate" Muslims when the true story is a lot more complex than that.

Sufis are Muslim in the same sense that Dan Brown is a "Christian" with his gnosticism. Sufism is basically gnosticism in the Muslim world.

A better comparison is that they are like monks who reject the materialism of the church and it's leaders prefering the word of religious teachers to strict adherance to the Koran.
(Tariqas) can be found in Sunni, Shia and other Islamic groups. Ibn Khaldun, the 14th century Arab historian, described Sufism as:

... dedication to worship, total dedication to Allah most High, disregard for the finery and ornament of the world, abstinence from the pleasure, wealth, and prestige sought by most men, and retiring from others to worship alone.

LOL, BBC. You really need to back off on the sauce.

I actually read a bit from Sufis back in the 1990s. It's very much like Gnosticism. Or, maybe, a better description is Platonic mysticism. Plotinus reads quite a lot like Sufism, for example. Gnosis remains a major component of this form of mysticism as well.

Like pretty much everything else in Islam, it's based on various Christian heresies and pagan mysticism. When Mohamed was inventing his bandit religion, he mainly had access to Christian heretics who were gnostics and a few other groups. This is why you get descriptions of Christ being not physical (was one of the old Christian heresies that spread into the nether-regions of the ass-end of the world). Sufis just picked up more on the gnosticism than anything else and ran with it. There are all kinds of sufis too. Some of them are cults (like Osho). Others adapt to be more like mainstream Sunnis and Shia (but with the mystical twist).
