France is selling warships and Rafale's to Egypt, that would be France's number one priority.

So I don't see France opposing the Egyptians.

An Egyptian proxy they would favor.

If the Egyptians gain control of the oil in Libya, they got cash independent of the American military assistance program.

That means more money to buy European weapons, particularly big ticket items like warships.

They both need more cash to fund their militaries over and above US aid.

US aid is also only good for buying US weapons.

They want cash which they can use for non American weapons.

Israel is seizing the Leviathan offshore gas field.

The Egyptians seem to be responding by trying to seize the Libyan oil fields.

The combination of feckless Obama followed by feckless Trump has spooked American clients.

They fear that they could get cut off in some of populist backlash wherein America will flip on them.

So they want options in case that comes to pass.

Thus the Europeans, Russians and Chinese are moving in to try to take market share back from America.

Thus why American Isolationism will not prevent a war.

The Europeans, Russians and Chinese will incite the war.

Then America will get dragged in, kicking and screaming or otherwise.

Once it escalates to the sea lanes, it becomes America's problem by default.

If Admiral Mahan allows the Eurasian wars to escalate unabated, somebody is going to use torpedoes eventually.

Those torpedoes would very quickly start sinking American shipping on the high seas.
