The Democrats over the last several years remind me of the Jim Jones Cult.
The exhaulted leader told them to believe in the religions of Social Justice, Gender Fluidity and Globalism and they lapped it up. The leaders painted a picture of a future Utopia of multiculturalism, open borders and Global Government. Even though the religion is clearly a path to destruction, they've seen others drink the Kool-Aid and die, they continue to step forward in line and drink the Kool-Aid.

While no one was watching over the last decade(because the MSM wouldn't report it) they lost 1000 seats. They ceded 80 years as the dominant party and became the minority party in less than a decade. What will happen next ? I'm not sure where they go next.

Well, as you know it wasn't literal, but I can go with it.

My main conclusion about this is, they don't really care all that much. They have the most popular politician in America, and they treat him like a leper and punish any in their ranks who support him. They could run on addressing the material needs of the 99% and do much better, but they don't want to.

Some of them are true believers in neo-liberalism, open boarders and a world ruled by tech moguls and wall street, though hopefully they appoint some more brown people and women. Others are bought off and/or just playing the game of personal success.

Ultimately, they can chose to be the second biggest gang in town or open a legitimate business and they'd rather be the second biggest gang.

The agenda pushed by the lizards is, we fight about wedding cakes, race and sexuality, they slice up the world. I think maybe part of what ails these Dems is that their side on the social issues is doing pretty well. As I mentioned elsewhere, most Americans and 75% of millennials support gay marriage. People just aren't worried about it. Democrats have, for the most part, OPPOSED rolling back the drug war and legalizing pot. Or at best, stood on the side lines. That was a chance to score big.

What you're left with is just a bunch of empty suits, who have to almost explicitly run on "yes, we are going to screw you." There is a reform/replace discussion on the left.

I'd love for them to die off and be replaced by a party that is mainly concerned with 1) Addressing the material needs of the population (health care, the college mess, etc) to promote a big middle class. 2) Max civil liberties. 3) Not being at war forever.

The first scene from the Democrat Mass Suicide happened on September 13, 1994, following a close 52-48 vote in the Senate, and signed into law by then President Bill Clinton the same day. It was called the Federal Assault Weapons Ban.

The election was a mere 7 weeks away, after that election the Dems had lost 8 Senate seats and 54 House Seats. It was a strong warning to the Democrats, a warning they failed to heed.
