the attack never came from Afghanistan anyways

it came from Yemen, by way of Indonesia

so glassing Afghanistan would have been hitting the wrong target
It may have been the wrong target, but with the Taliban there, it seems to me to be a target of opportunity now.
you are vastly overrating the effects of firepower

Afghanistan is already a wasteland, there's nothing to bomb there, they don't even have rubble to bounce

it's a bunch of goat herders in a huge empty space, it's not even a military target

you're invoking Curtis LeMay in WWII, but there is no Germany nor Japan to bomb

that was industrial warfare, but Afghanistan has no industrial targets to hit
I'm not overestimating anything, the bombing would be an end result, not the start... we did "shock and awe" before... I'm talking about scorched earth by proxy. If they want to believe we are the great white devil, then so be it, let's show them why the marines were given the name devil dogs, and the US as one of the greatest powers in the world...

there was only one reason to be there, to get Osama Bin Laden

you needed a base to be able to deploy DEVGRU Red Squadron from when you found him

so could have just made a deal with the Taliban

we don't have a beef with you, we just need a FOB at Bagram airfield, we'll rent it from you

the Taliban were never actually terrorists

they were a militia that formed to fight drug dealers and child rapists

they never attacked America, they had nothing to do with that
Do you forget your history a little?

Once Bush Sr. used the US forced to attack Iraq instead of using the Taliban, we were the enemy of the Taliban by a statement of UBL.

This could be fiction, but it is my understanding that initially they did attempt to negotiate with the Taliban, but they refused to help.

the only AQ site was tiny little base at Tarnak Farms

the Taliban had no control of those trainies, they were Saudi funded Pakistani ISI backed

there was only a handful of Arab fighters in the whole country, but they were not under Taliban control

the Taliban didn't have the power to do what George W. Bush demanded

which was to round AQ up and hand them over

meanwhile the cell that actually attacked on 9-11 came from Yemen, not Afghanistan

like where did you find Osama Bin Laden ?

in Pakistan

that was his base of operations in the region

they only used Tarnak Farms as a training base

but Pakistan runs the show, the Taliban were also Pakistani backed

so the Taliban could not control Bin Laden

American forces couldn't catch him, why would you think the minimally resourced Taliban could have ?

really Afghanistan is just no man's land between India & Pakistan

India backs the Northern Alliance, Pakistan backs the Taliban

Osama Bin Laden was a Saudi Arab bringing Arabs into the region

but they were coming to Pakistan, then passing discretely back & forth across the border

the whole narrative that AQ HQ was Afghanistan and they were being protected by the Taliban

that was complete & total bullshit made up by the Bush Administration with a complicit media

and I knew that at the time, so it was something that was knowable at the time

it's like as soon as you saw the plane hit the building you knew who that was

I turned to my wife and told her while we were watching through the window of future shop

that's Al Qeada, that's the guy from 60 minutes, Osama Bin Laden

he had declared war on America, and had been launching attacks on American targets

Clinton had fired TLAM's at Tarnak Farms to take him out earlier

and you knew that AQ was a former CIA asset gone rogue, backed by Saudia Arabia & Pakistan

you knew that he wasn't really a "guest" in Afghanistan, 60 minutes visited him at a "secret" mountain base

all this was knowable OSINT on that day,

then it was obvious that Bush needed to go to war against something in response to the attacks

so the Bushies were clearly cooking up a rubric to do that, with the help of the fake news media

Other way around. UBL tried to negotiate with the Bush Sr. CIA... Saying that they could take care of Saddam.

That if non-believers touched holy land they would be enemies of the Taliban. That is exactly what happened.

After that, as they say the rest is history.
