Text to Ticket wants to create an army of highway vigilantes, catching distracted drivers and profiting from it.

I said that I was probably crazy, and most of you said that I was probably crazy, but it turns out that I wasn’t crazy. Instead, I was actually seeing the future. About three weeks ago, I suggested that somebody would eventually create a system to issue tickets based on the electronic testimony of fellow drivers, and that the money generated by those tickets would be split between the municipality issuing the ticket, the driver who submitted the evidence, and the company that acted as a go-between.

I'd only object to the profit motive. You don't create good citizens by paying them to be good citizens. It should be self-evident why you'd want to report some drunk driver, or someone driving against traffic, or someone speeding next to a school.
