2018 - Railgun for US Navy.
If all goes according to plan, this gun will be on the Zumwalt-class stealth destroyers, the Lyndon B. Johnson. by 2018 (Probably would have picked a better ship name than that)

How fast does it track speedboats?

When it can shoot at over 100 miles at Mach 7, I don't think tracking is going to be an issue.GrumpyCatFace wrote:How fast does it track speedboats?

All good on the open seas. The Conservative wrote:When it can shoot at over 100 miles at Mach 7, I don't think tracking is going to be an issue.GrumpyCatFace wrote:How fast does it track speedboats?
Hey, it's a cool toy. Should be great if the Muslims assemble a Grand Armada to storm our beaches.

It's for taking out infrastructure - large non-moving targets.
Also good for blowing a hole through a medium-large enemy ship at close range. And, it's in it's early stages of development. What would a 20 round/second version do to a fast moving ship?

GCF is here to point out how this weapon isn't going to single handedly win any wars and can only be used in certain circumstances, so it must be obsolete, right out the gate. Hell if we had functioning phasers, he would say they are obsolete and would then go on to tell us a few circumstances where the mentioned weapon isn't an ideal and he thinks that proves his argument or something. Obviously you got to use the right tool for the right job, and one tool doesn't fix all problems, but thanks for telling us what we already know Captain Obvious.

Haven't you heard GCF? Russia is our greatest threat now, not ISIS. Just look at how panicked the media is about Russia. The only things we hear about Muslims is how we are racists for pointing out suspicious (or openly criminal) activity of a few.
