It would be funnier if it wasn't indistinguishable from all the rest of the reactionary, alternate facts rants on this forum.
brewster says hamilton dindu nuthin
He certainly got some pussy on the side and paid dearly for it. Possibly the reason he never ran for POTUS according to Chernow.

Really fun essay on the tenure of President Hamilton: "What If Aaron Burr Had Missed?" http://historynewsnetwork.org/article/5944
That's the kind of alternate history I'm looking for in the Jeffersonian thread.

At this point I'm way more interested in why the Census is so fucked up about studying where people live, bad data can do no one any good. Someone must study the movements between cities and suburbs, but it's not them.

If Aaron Burr didn't kill the corrupt prick, somebody else would have done it.

There's a good breakdown of how fucked up Hamilton really was, how incompetent, and what a shit show this federal government was from day one.

The only thing he left out was how Hamilton personally profited from the tax policies he implemented that he knew would destroy the economy of the frontier.

Fascinating bunch of data here. Https://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-r ... 6-210.html But StA ain't going to like it because he'll want to move the "urban" goalposts to his definition of "not shitty big city" rather than the Census Bureau's.

I looked at the data it appears it counts towns down to a population of 2500 people(urban clusters). By those standards places like Rocky Ford, CO, Burns, OR and Gatlinburg, Tennessee urban places.

How? Link? In the Chernow book he says these were baseless accusations by political enemies.

So much of the criticism is without alternative. You criticize the tariffs and excise taxes, but that was the only income the US government had, just like Britain before them. The failure of the Articles of Confederation was due to there being no Federal money but voluntary donations from the states.

Because the economy of Appalachia was a barter economy in which the primary mode of trade was whiskey. Most people had no money at all, and gold and silver were pretty rare in those days. Yet Hamilton setup the tax to require them to pay a productive tax at the point of manufacture rather than the point of sale that was collected in gold and silver. He then went about with his speculator buddies to establish a system whereby they would trade gold and silver for whiskey at a discount so that people could pay the tax, and then sold the whiskey outside the frontier at a profit. Then there were the land seizures due to the fact that people really had no means to pay this tax, which he and his carpet bagging compatriots capitalized upon.

Perhaps the worst part is that he setup the system so that, when they decided to seize property, the person had to respond within 30 days to a federal courthouse. That courthouse was in Philadelphia. Imagine you are a poor subsistence farmer / frontiersmen in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina in the late 18th century, and you got a summons to court in thirty days at the federal courthouse in Philadelphia. more than 600 miles away across dangerous frontiers. But if you don't make the journey in time, you lost your land and your means of survival.

He deserved the bullet and the federal government has ALWAYS been an exploitative shit show from day one.

Can you provide any link to this story? I can find nothing, and assume it was one of many slanders against him.

As for the Federal govt, you still haven't speculated in the Jefferson thread an alternate history if Hamilton hadn't rescued American credit.

It was discussed here:

Also, Hamilton didn't rescue a damned thing. He setup the first attempt at financial enslavement of the American people. Jefferson was no protagonist either.

I like this one:

I remember we had some discussion about it a few years ago on the DCF. It lead to one of DB's better catch-phrases: WHISKEEEEEYYYYYYYYY !!!!!
