This is the Moskva.

She's an oldie, but she packs a lot of firepower, NATO has nothing in the Black Sea in her weight class.

Yeah, that looks like the ship parked in the harbor in the sat map. Cool ship.

The Black Sea is more like a Great Lake, it's shallow, and the only way out in the Bosporus.

So any ships the Russians put in there are kind of trapped. Thus why they want to be in Tartus in the Med.

The VMF concentrates its major warships and SSN's in the Northern and Eastern Fleets.

The Black and Caspian are inland waters to Russia practically, the Black Sea Fleet is more of a tripwire.

It's a Trace, and Russian fleet is an extension of Southern District in the face of a perceived NATO incursion.

Yeah, I definitely would not want to have to go in there via the Black Sea. Romania sounds like a better stronghold when you really think about it.

Although, if shit were really real, I'd rather just fight from Poland to Moscow.

It's all the same front, Poland and Romania are basically right beside each other.

Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania are all nestled around the western tip of Ukraine.

As the crow flies the only thing between Poland and Romania is Zarkarpattia Oblast in Ukraine, which is tiny.

This entire area of operations is smaller than Texas. Poland is like north Texas and Romania is like south Texas.

Here's a map;

The Russian city closest to Poland is Saint Petersburg. Moscow is further east and south.

The shorter route to Moscow could be across Ukraine from Romania.

This is why it's the Eastern Flank. In the Black Sea you are practically due south of Moscow.

You come from Bucharest, through Odessa, across the Dniepr, past Kharkiv, into the Russian Steppe.

After Karkiv you hit Voronezh, that's District Army HQ, just beyond that is the strategic bomber base at Engels.

Just beyond that is the gates of Moscow.

Ukraine is tank country, you can cross that open ground quicker.
