Wherever I go in America people are friendly and there are pretty girls.

Gym, tan, laundry. You get AFSOC ripped, high and tight, Air Commando.

Then you go native, whatever girls like to do in New Mexico, you get into that.

Whatever it is, line dancing, bowling, who cares? Just go where the girls go.

Look good, feel good, shoot good. God fearing, nice manners, treat them like a lady.

Presto, you get the putty and all the feexins.

That's where you have to set the example.

No doubt there are good people in every town in America.

If there are broken people, you try to help them down at the church.

You gotta buck up, ruck up, bring a little cheer to the locals, be the best airman you can be.

Air Commando. You're there to work, for the CinC, it's not a holiday.

Bottomless Lake State Park. Roswell. Just down the highway.

International Dark Skies rates it highly.

Firecloud Report says;

"The New Mexico high plains: a mile high, no atmospheric moisture, no moon yet, no human lights for twenty miles, no cities for 200 miles and no visible air pollution. The Southwest offers the best star-gazing in the US."

I would camp the shit out of that, I'm sure I'd find a nice young lady to accompany me, chicks dig me.

You'd be way better off in my old duty station in Idaho if you like all those things. The night sky was completely unpolluted with light. It's really amazing to see the whole galaxy like that. Then about a thirty minute drive away was Boise, with lots and lots of girls who were not fuck ups. Everything from snow bunnies to hippie chicks who skinny dip in the numerous hot springs up in the Sawtooths.

Nevada border was a few hours drive away. Just over that border was a little gambling town we'd frequent. Fucking nice duty station, actually.

This is where we'd camp on the weekends:

If I had been sent to Cannon I'd probably wrestle with suicidal thoughts too.

Like I say, wherever I go I can have a good time.

I could have a good time anywhere in America, I'll find things to do, I'll find good people to do it with,

How much free time do you really have when you're AFSOC anyways?

Air Commando. SOCOM. Got shit to do, places to be, for the CinC.

It's Fortress America, I'd just get deep into the training and preparation.

Whole lotta pt, whole lotta shooting, whole lotta camping in the desert.

Just have to find one Redneck chick whose cute, fit, and likes the outdoors too.

If you have to drive a couple hours to her place, so what? Keeps her out of your hair most of the time.

This is how the nonners in Space Command live.

Though, I grew up (part time) down the road from there, so it would not have been a cool spot to get stationed.

I couldn't believe how cushy the air force was here.

I got posted to the Land Advanced Warfare Center, it's at Trenton. RCAF base.

The room they gave me was fit for a General. Wood paneled, big old wooden desk.

I was dating my future wife at the time, it was the only military barracks she agreed to have sex in.

She was like "how do you rate a room this nice?" I was like "it's the air force, it's a whole 'nother world."

The food was excellent as always, but they even had beer on tap in the eating mess.

Bay of Quinte, cottage country, it was a fuckin' blast.

To be clear, I should state that most of Patrick is Space Command. When I was a kid (not sure if this is still the case), the PJs operated out of there as well. Those guys are no joke.

As far as quality of life in the Air Force, most people in other services don't realize there really are two experiences. If you are a nonner in something like the Space Command, then you have a completely cush lifestyle. It's not really like being in the military at all, other than having to wear a uniform.

If you actually work on a flight line, then it's a completely different world. Towards the end of my enlistment, I had maybe one weekend off per month. I worked 10-16 hour days. They just grind the life out of airmen for four years and then cycle in new victims. We absolutely hated nonners because of this.

On a real duty station with combat air squadrons, chow hall food was not great. It was nothing compared to what we had in Canada. The Canadian chow hall is a thing of legend. It was like going to an all you can eat buffet where they changed the entrees out every thirty minutes or so. Amazing. I'd imagine Patrick AFB chow hall is a bit like a Canadian chow hall.

I heard the NCOs in the USN live pretty large too.
