The empire will come to its end primarily from within. This has been true of many.
The most important problem for all forms of life, from single cell organisms all the way up to countries and empires, is membranics. How to figure out how to let the right stuff in and how to get rid of the stuff that has to be let go. A walled city will put its most competent people at the gate. The toughest material on an animal is the skin. Empires fall because they can't keep the bad stuff out. Too many people and ideas that don't belong will try to get in and benefit from the strength of the empire.
If you have only one bullet left save that last one for the traitor. And not just revenge but also bc you have to get rid of him for your people to have any chance of winning.
the ancient analogy doesn't really work in this case

it's more like Weimar

the empire already collapsed

the GWOT is an humiliating military defeat

the 2008 financial crisis is like a Treaty of Versailles

when Hitler attempted his first putsch, he realized the time had not yet come

he just had to wait until the bubble popped, then no putsch would be required

there will be reckoning for the Wokemar Republic, it's just not likely to be a liberty jubilee

you have to change the way you view the end of the Cold War

it was more like the end of the First World War

America declared victory, but really both sides had simply exhausted themselves in a stalemate

in America's case it had run up an eleven trillion dollar debt

the Iron Curtain collapsed, but that didn't end up favoring the American people

the debt is like a Treaty of Versailles, because that is what it was, reparations, a debt burden

if you look at the Gulf War, that's a lot like the Germans in 1918

the Germans were winning on the battlefield,

they were advancing into France with the latest military capabilities

then in Berlin, the left said "it's the economy, stupid"

and despite the battlefield superiority, the American people suddenly found themselves in a collapse

the collapse is covered up by a kind of Brave New World paradigm,

it's one big decadent party, the Wokemar Republic

at this point the elites are rallying around Franz von Papen like characters

it's like Free Trade back in the 90's, Clinton versus Ross Perot

that was like Paris 1919

despite American military superiority on the battlefield

America was none the less being carved up by foreign interests unleashed by the end of the stalemate

that was the imposition of Versailles

the Cold War had hollowed America out, the end didn't come by winning, it was exhaustion

the international cartels then imposed reparations on Americans

the left says that Trump is Hitler

he's not though, he's more like Hindenburg

like bring Ronald Reagan back in a Beer Hall Putsch

it failed in 1923, because the post war debt bubble had not popped yet

I understand that but I'm just wondering what Smitty thinks was the real movers and shakers in the 1800s...was it really the Rothschilds or whatever haha. In Game of Thrones they had the Bank of Bravos ...Also wouldn't the Cold War hollow out Russia too? The 1980s got a bump b/c of the financialization of the economy. It was a sort of fake bump in hindsight.
