The name Equation Group was chosen because of the group's predilection for strong encryption methods in their operations. In 2017, WikiLeaks published a discussion held within the CIA on how it had been possible to identify the group.[7] One commenter wrote that "the Equation Group as labeled in the report does not relate to a specific group but rather a collection of tools" used for hacking.[8]

While I generally consider Kim Dotcom to be an ally for exposing crime and corruption within government, isn't he generally full of shit when it comes to these matters? I vaguely recall him making claims about Wikileaks possessing the 33k lost Clinton e-mails with intentions to release them, which turned out to be a nothingburger.

Either way I'll still be tuning in...

If my evidence is required to be given in the United States I would be prepared to do so if appropriate arrangements are made. I would need a guarantee from Special Counsel Mueller, on behalf of the United States, of safe passage from New Zealand to the United States and back. In the coming days we will be communicating with the appropriate authorities to make the necessary arrangements. In the meantime, I will make no further comment.
