A slave brought to another country is an immigrant, even if they're an unwilling immigrant.

And their descendents are a hell of a lot better off here in the US than they would be in Africa.

-a person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence.

-an organism found in a new habitat.
Slaves brought from Africa to the New World were literally immigrants.
