The Passing of Nick Dupree

Post by DBTrek » Thu Feb 23, 2017 1:03 pm

For those who remember Nick Dupree, NPR has released the following:

For those who did not know him, he was a good man who was dealt a bad hand. In spite of his circumstances, he accomplished much, gave much, and will be missed.

I could hardly agree with the old self-described medicaidwonk about anything, but I'm sorry to learn he's gone.

I'm humbled at what he accomplished with the tools he was given.

God Speed Nick, we miss you.

I wish I knew it had turned so difficult for him. Nick is a great guy.

Yeah, Dan knows.
Scott Dolan gave him word.

Never heard of him, but it looks like he had a bad hand. Sorry to see that any time.

Yeah we didn't agree on much either, but there are few more admirable people that I've been acquainted with over the course of my life. Effectively pushing Alabama to strengthen it's social safety net is quite the feat. Quite the bad news gut punch, especially with the end being so rough for him and all. I'll miss the guy.

Was he on the DCF, or how do you guys know him?

Yep, Nick was what was called, an "Early Adapter".
Which was a term for early members of DCF that talked about the dangers of the establishment and the need for outsiders in government. Nick owned most discussions on Medicare and the problems with government healthcare.
