If America blows up into another revolution, it's not going World Socialist, I mean, please. Nobody would be overthrowing the plutocrats, you'd just be getting Nuclear Hitler for realz, although, probably more like Nuclear Pinochet actually.

All these Americans on the left who like to presage an American uprising, rest assured, if you ever tipped the Apple Cart, you wouldn't get Che Guevara, you'd get Stonewall Jackson, don't kid yourselves.
Yes, Americans absolutely hate everything that reeks to socialism... until the program/law somehow works. Then they are fine with it.

That's the one thing I wish we could send back to the Germans that invented it. It should have been a private/public 401k type arrangement.

And that shit doesn't work. I'll be seventy before I get any of that money and it won't be much to look at anyway.

Except, socialism is a system of government in which the means of production, distribution and exchange are owned by the state, which is not what Social Security is, thus, equating Social Security with socialism would be idiotic nonsnense.

According to the Hash Dictionary: "socialism" is Group over individual. By that definition, Social Security would be socialism IF it came out of General tax revenues, but America's implementation is a pyramid scheme, so I don't know what it is?

You're conflating collectivism with socialism, but socialism is a specific form of collectivism, wherein the means of production distrubution and exchange are owned and controlled by the state.

Social Security doesn't meet even your definition though, since it actually puts the individual ahead of the group, the money being paid into the program by individuals and then withdrawn from by said individuals when they are 65, and then they decide how they will spend it.

It only becomes socialism if/when the state siezes all the money in SS and then didn't pay it out, but instead distributed it top down deciding how it would be spent for you.

Oh, the word police from the Leninist-land is still angry? Or what?

As I said: "everything that reeks to socialism" means that everything that Americans understand or think it to be "socialist". And that doesn't mean that they actually are genuinely 'socialist' programs with a purely socialist objective. Bismarck surely was no socialist.
The German Chancellor was motivated to introduce social insurance in Germany both to promote the well-being of workers in order to keep the German economy operating at maximum efficiency, and to stave off calls for more radical socialist alternatives.
Now communism is a straight forward thing, has to do with Marx. Socialism on the other hand is a more broad definition. Because modern day Social Democracy is still socialist, even if they have basically no problems with private property.

Bentham's view of socialism, The-Most-Good-To-The-Most-People, is often achieved through Capitalism. If I believed in People-Who-Know-Better'n-Me-Doin'-What's-Good-For-Me, and their ability to Predict-The-Future, I'd go socialist.
