That made no sense.

The right is actually about protecting the rights of the nobility.
From both the masses and the king.

The left is about protecting the security of the peasants and the working class.

The rest about the sovereign being the individual...

There's no king in America, there's no nobility in America, there's no peasants in America, there's no class in America, there is only the individual, and the collective, the property owner, and the mob.

And, in America, said property owner is sovereign, and as a sovereign, bears arms, if he knows what's good for him.

America is, sovereignty for the masses, to be sovereign from the masses, "God and my right", as all sovereigns say.

In the end, the Declaration of Independence is all that matters, the authority flows from God himself, to include the sovereign right to make war, even upon the republic itself.

America is the only country in the history of the world, which has granted its citizens the prerogatives of a sovereign, divine mandate, autonomy from the masses, and the right to make war to defend it.

The constitution holds, only as these prerogatives are upheld therein, if they are not, the Declaration of Independence will overthrow it, as surely as it overthrew the collective sovereignty of the British Crown.

Here in Canada, it is not so, the British Crown is sovereign here, I may not invoke God as my vindicator, you may not neither, I may not make war upon you nor the British Crown, nor you may not upon me nor the British Crown neither, Her Majesty defends the right, but only Her Majesty is empowered to do so, that's what it is to be a Loyalist, and what separates us from the Americans.

Steering the thread back on topic...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/won ... 29cd02fc46
President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday that Japanese telecom and internet conglomerate SoftBank would invest $50 billion in the United States and create 50,000 new jobs, saying that the decision wouldn't have been made without Trump's election win.

Trump appeared in the lobby of the Trump Tower on Tuesday with Masayoshi Son, the chief executive of SoftBank, to announce the news, and later on Twitter claimed credit.
First Carrier, now this? This is definitely good press for the president-elect. Certainly, the liberals will start ankle biting, but they'd do that with anything Trump does. The speculation is that this was already on the table anyway, but given that the CEO of SoftBank made a point to appear with Trump, who knows?

That's one of the more absurd things I've seen posted this week.

It was true in France, but not in America, this is the bright line between the two revolutions, American Revolution; "The Miracle", French Revolution; "The Terror". The French Revolution granted sovereignty to the Commune, the American Revolution; to the individual.

True. I was thinking of it in the modern context. I wasn't following the conversation.

The modern context remains individual sovereignty in America, although it is ever under siege from the commune of the left, who ceaselessly invoke the French model.

The British System, The Magna Carta, was a compromise between Nobility and Monarch...

Making the monarch responsible to the landowners.

The French and American Revolutions were extrapolations on that theme - empowering citizens - the French to a greater extreme than the American.

Fukuyama feels that the success of the state involves the balance of power of power blocks within the state... essentially holding one another accountable.

The Right tends to favour the entrenched interests... nowadays that leans towards corporate interests and business owners.

The Left tends to advocate for the interests of the disenfranchised, the working class and protection of vulnerable groups.

The health of society involves the balance between power blocks. That none are hamstrung, that all are accountable.

When the left dominates, unions become bloated and inefficient, entitlements and pensions become unworkable, regulations on businesses become unwieldly.

When the right dominates businesses and banks become unaccountable, workers are exploited and unprotected, the commons is neglected.

A healthy society requires balance...

And the balance is needed, because it's pretty bad to appreciate a good $5.000 bottle of vine when your servant hates you and could kill you.

That is a phrase that my father used to say: Never fight with the cook! It's bad for your health. :-)
