1. This is good optics/politics, but I detest the govt picking winners and losers, especially on such a case by case basis.

2. If Trump is successful in keeping US biz here on a case by case basis, it is the same as governing by executive order -- all "progress" will be fragile and subject to the whims of the next prez. Much better to pass laws that apply to all through Congress.

At this point, our society is so pathetically feeble, as to make a new Emperor look attractive. Fuck it, why try anymore, just curry the favor of Imperius Dipshit and take the easy train. Gotta admit, things are pretty simple, over in DGAFistan...

I'd rather not see tax breaks doled out here and there rather than across the board or not at all. The selective part of that I don't like.

As far as defense contracts and contracts of other sorts, I got no tears for anyone losing their government gravy money. If the people want to pass a law or create a policy that says we cut your corporate welfare when you offshore your businesses, then that's the way it is. No one's entitled to government contracts. If people want some tit for tat in these talks, I'm fine with it.

What a silly response for a well known answer. When did that happened in favor of the people? So, let me see, hummmm never!.
I guess now that you have Trump, a billionaire that wants to do good for the people even if he loses money? C'mon.
Sorry Paulo, I was just needling you over your 'we've seen these lunatics in Brazil, now it is your turn' talk. Trust me, I've got my reservations too.

On a related note:
Case in point, the recent stories about Ford and Carrier keeping some parts of their manufacturing in the United States because Trump negotiated/bullied them into staying. If you tell that story through a political filter – which is all I have seen so far – you focus on the facts. In this case, the political story is that both the Ford and Carrier situations are exaggerated claims of success.

The political filter misses the story completely. As usual.

Here’s the real story. You need a business filter to see it clearly. In my corporate life I watched lots of new leaders replace old leaders. And there is one trick the good leaders do that bad leaders don’t: They make some IMMEDIATE improvement that everyone can see. It has to be visible, relatively simple, and fast.

I know, I know. And it really gives me no pleasure to see Trump governing via twitter. WE had a guy here that did that with little sticky notes, ended pretty baddly! :-)

I thought Trump doing Twitter was weird at first. But the more I think about it, the more I see the advantages for him. It's efficient; it's timely; it's cheap; it doesn't rely on the press; it's not subject to distortion.

I really can't believe people are all up in arms about it. It is a very advantageous platform.

I guess its the opposition who will say he does nothing right or good even if he does

You guys are insane!!!! 140 characters? To run a superpower? How can you talk about anything other than the kardashians???? :D
I guess we should move to twitter than. Why waste so many letters to express one's opinion?
I am becoming more and more sad about the way you guys think about this. I'll give you some useful twits:
1- Help! ( 5 char)
2- They are coming! ( 14 char )
3- There is an accident on the BR-116 km 12 (32 char)
4- I think that the complexity of the subjects and their relationships with nations are far from mere 140 characters to write a coherent idea that can be understood by the ot......

I agree Twitter is for twats, but the only good Twitter can be is to spread your message. Like, "hey don't forget to watch my speech. It's going to be Yuge!"
