Indians and asians make for powerful allies...two very inconvenient "minorities".

How does this get harnessed

Centrally planned medicine.
SJWs are a natural consequence of corporatism.

Well, one way to keep the Indian population in check is to simply deny them medical care because racism....

My reaction now is - what took them so long.

France is starting to look pretty good right about now.

"Some teachers advocating replacing Shakespeare with such works as “Hunger Games."

I may be the only person here who's read the Hunger Games, I did it as a favor to my middle school daughter. The first was readable, it was just OK. The second and third got progressively worse. I'm pretty sure the cited author didn't write all 3, as a whole they weren't good.

Definitely not literature you want to strive to emulate.

When I was a kid, my imagination was triggered by Robert Heinlein and Isaac Asimov, both of which are horrendously bad writers but I didn't know, nor did it make any difference. Shakespeare OTOH was awful then, now, and forever.

I think there is an ideal mix that needs to be achieved to get kids interested in these classes. You need some of these more modern books that get them interested, and intermix it with less interesting but better written classics. Literature classes tend to be way too stuffy to get the average kid interested.

Also, math classes after algebra should be teaching practical knowledge. Most kids do not need to learn advance algebra or calculus. They need classes like personal finance, geometry, and/or programming. We really need to be mixing practical skills in with our pre-college education more.
