Who could have guessed??
"People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome."

They had a better case. No taxation without representation. The British parliament had a lot of chances to put it right but they chose to be pigheaded about it and they got their just desserts. The American Revolution was a very rational affair. They got pushed to the brink and they pushed back. Once they had their independence no one tried to establish som kind of utopian egalitarian state. The business of America is business, and business was good.
Nonsense they had. Either you believe fighting against one's betters, fighting against the proper established order, the proper hierachy, is wrong ... or you're a revolutionary who wants more of an equal society. America's the original Commie experiment.. (with Commie meaning anyone who wants to fight against their betters and the natural order of society, of course).

"No taxation without representation" was just bullshit invented by people who wanted more equality. In fact, the very notion hinges on the assumption that the taxpayer has some sort of right to dictate that he be "represented", when there already were perfectly well-bred, proper aristocratic men of quality who represented what was best for them in the English houses of parliament. The American revolution was an irrational revolution against man's proper place in life: "All men are created equal" it says in their declaration of independence. That's plainly just Commie talk for "I don't accept that a bunch of men in white wigs on the other side of the Atlantic who call themselves our betters, get to dictate how we govern ourselves".

See? Them be envious people who just wanted to lash out at their betters...

Equality under the law, not equality of outcome you silly whipped-cream-front-false-equivocator. Come on Bjorn, you need to stop using this forum as a place for trolling. Most of us are here to learn and to better ourselves, not to make silly posts like this.

Scandinavian airline SAS pulls their new add after less than a day. "Unexpected negative reactions". Probably Russian bots-

By the weird logic of the ad, no major cultural group in the world has anything that is culturally "truly" theirs. Nothing is "truly Mexican" because they got alot of their influences from Spanish. Nothing is "truly" Japanese, because they got their idea of a divine emperor from China. Nothing is "truly" Persian, because they got their writing from Sumerian cuneiform.

At the end of the day, this is just a way for SAS to push back against the environmentalists who want people to travel less by air. Norwegian Airlines was recently caught inflating the numbers of a tree-planting project they advertised on their site, a project meant to curb the feelings of guilt the moderately green passangers might feel flying to their holiday or work destinations. The SAS project, by comparison, simply sold a much cheaper indulgence:

"Ok, you're polluting the air, but at least you're becoming more cosmopolitan and enlightened than others in the process. You're bettering the world, too!".

They should have run the ad like:

Nothing is Scandinavian.

We got our cultural Marxism from the French

Our rapists and murders from Syria

Our Free Security Blanket from America which we loathe

And our surrender from the French

Our Whaling from the Japanese.
Our self loathing is our own

Do Danes actually believe that? Isn't the thing in Europe now to denigrate your own history?

In American universities, that is absolutely the norm. Many Leftists here think America is the worst place on Earth. No joke, I talked to a tattooed, shorthaired girl at my work who said that the US was ranked like 170th globally in overall freedom. No irony in her voice or the absurdity of that statement. She probably misread some post on facebook but that she would accept that is insane to me...

If we're being serious, then, no. Danes generally neither loathe their own culture nor do we think we're the best at everything. The cultural self-hate thing exists, but it's also a university thing here - mostly just Copenhagen (for now) as well as something that occasionally gets published by opinion piece articles by non-staff on one newspaper, and is a permanent thing with one other. It's still a minority opinion.
