Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
I bet that with some smart maneuvers, Trump could easily move here forwards.
As (some) people (still) assume that he can do deals, then one easy one would be "DACA for the Wall"-deal. Just have one or wo of the Pro-Trump talking heads (not Trump himself, naturally) attack the Trump's MAGA hat-burners as being not true core loyalists to the movement. That this whole maneuvering is the "4D Chess" Trump is playing and winning ...if it wouldn't be for those stupid disloyal pseudo-supporters of Trump whining about DACA as the real thing is the Wall.
And DACA? Trump himself mentioned the fact that one segment of those involved are those that have served the country honourably, something that one would talk to the right crowd.
Or something like that.

White House spokeswoman says ‘no change’ in U.S. position on deal

NEW YORK—Trump administration officials said Saturday the U.S. wouldn’t pull out of the Paris Agreement, offering to re-engage in the international deal to fight climate change, according to multiple officials at a global warming summit.
“The U.S. has stated that they will not renegotiate the Paris accord, but they will try to review the terms on which they could be engaged under this agreement,” European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Cañete said.
“There has been no change in the U.S.’s position on the Paris agreement,” said deputy press secretary Lindsay Walters. “As the president has made abundantly clear, the U.S. is withdrawing unless we can re-enter on terms that are more favorable to our country.”
In announcing the decision to withdraw the U.S. from the 195-nation agreement at the White House in June, Mr. Trump said he was ready to “begin negotiations to re-enter either the Paris accord or an—really entirely new transaction—on terms that are fair to the U.S., its businesses, its workers, its people, its taxpayers.”
“So we’re getting out, but we will start to negotiate, and we will see if we can make a deal that’s fair,” he added. “And if we can, that’s great. And if we can’t, that’s fine.”
In a statement Saturday afternoon, a White House spokeswoman said the administration’s position on Paris had not changed, but also noted that the president’s stance on withdrawing from the deal had never been set in stone.

Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
ssu has got it, why is so difficult for the rest of you to understand? Trump isn't going to do what is best for the country unless it coincides with what he thinks is best for him. If Trump thinks flip flopping will serve him well, he has no qualms in doing so, he remains vague for a reason, it gives him flexibility and people fill in the blanks by projecting their political beliefs on Trump. No amnesty whatsoever was an outrageous opening offer that he never intended to deliver on, if you thought otherwise then you were a fool, it was obviously a negotiation tactic that made him seem as tough against illegal immigration as possible, that's all.ssu wrote:I think this is typical Trump. He just sends both "yes" and "no" messages and then looks at what the response is.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Waimminit... Is this one of those things that we take him seriously on, or ignore? The Conservative wrote:Trump himself said no Amnesty.

After looking at the response, he then decides what to do. Or doesn't.
When trying to figure out Trump, it's best to not engage in wishful thinking, it leads one astray. Trump's base does not care about DACA, they care about The Wall. Trump knows this and he also knows that anyone butthurt about making a "DACA for the wall" type deal isn't going to turn around and vote Democrat anytime soon.

CA basically wants to eliminate it's borders.....
Any examples of what happens when a nation state decides it no longer wants borders?
