The military does things so you don't have to get your hands dirty in so many ways. Respect is given because it has been earned. It is the bastardization of what Congress and politicians, in general, have used them for in the past that has brought into question their respect.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 10:58 amWhat exactly should I ‘trust’ the military with? There only 1 thing that I need them to do - defend the homeland. So I do trust them to do that....The Conservative wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 11:02 amThe military does things so you don't have to get your hands dirty in so many ways. If you include the generals/planners/whatever that spend trillions on idiotic space-ray programs, then no. I don’t trust them at all.

SF, did you see that the Air Force is asking for another fighter?
They wanted a replacement to the F16, and got the F23, and the new jet doesn't do what they want.

The military times is biased toward the military, so if they are printing this, it's an issue. Going from 70% Approval to 52% is quite a dropSuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 10:58 amWhat exactly should I ‘trust’ the military with? What do they want it to do? Dog-fighting is obsolete, and there are plenty of other aircraft that do ground support roles better than any jet.
Are they wanting it to exit into orbit and come back, or something?
Oh wait, it's not anything tactical they're looking for, they just need a justification to keep the plane factory running.

Note, the above should be F35, not 23Xenophon wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 11:19 amWhat do they want it to do? Dog-fighting is obsolete, and there are plenty of other aircraft that do ground support roles better than any jet.

Either way, the question is idiotic and makes the responses nonsensical. The only possible use for this is to demand another trillion for ‘public trust work’.C-Mag wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 11:19 amThe military times is biased toward the military, so if they are printing this, it's an issue. Our fathers/grandfather's versions of dogfighting is technically obsolete, but we need something that will make the same kind of leap in technology as the F-16 did when it replaced its' predecessor.Xenophon wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 11:19 amWhat do they want it to do?
