Like look at the Transgender ban, just to give a small sample in a multitude of Trumpisms. Yep, his base might get up from that. And that's basically it, nothing else. No actual thought or policy behind that. Because he surely "consulted his generals". Mattis was on leave, has been said to found it appalling, and the generals?

When does a Commander-In-Chief get an answer from his military that nothing will be done until we get further directions from the President after the President just gave directions that he says he has consulted with his generals? Just a tiny example of the daily Trump-tweets that do nothing. You can dream that this is some kind of 5-D chess that Trump triumphantly is winning, but it looks like just pathetic inconclusive rambling from an obsessed narcissist that thinks that most important thing is what the media is saying about him, the President.

It could be said that the investigation (prior to Comey firing) was only indirectly investigating Trump as some Trump-team members were investigated by the FBI. And this naturally would have given Trump a lot of room to distance himself from it. Have the usual answer of being ingorant and "out-of-the-loop" and blame Carter Page, Roger Stone & Manafort etc. being some rogue people in the campaign team doing their own shady deals.

But no. Now it is about Trump and his shady past. If his Russian mob links tie him down with the Russian intelligence operation. This all thanks to Trump himself.
