Those girls would never be allowed to attend a real prom anyway, and their culture is already segregated, so in terms of assimiliation that solution is surely better than just letting them sit at home not being allowed to go anywhere on prom night. It's that solution or no solution.

The article is making a weak link to the SJW phenomenon. Giving your country's seperation of church and state and some of your people's militant insistance of no religion whatsoever in any public settings, then maybe there's a case to be made in that regard. But this.... if this had been a school with a few Hasidic students, I'd see no problem or "SJW''ness" in them pulling something similar.
