Anyone pushing high speed rail outside of hyper densely populated areas like Japan or the Benelux is full of shit. Won't work.
You already have great long and medium distance transfer system. It's called flying.
If you want to do something about pollution you should look at every day commuting. Local trains, subway, streetcars and busses. Build it and they will come.
It's not as sexy but it works.
Another whining defeatist who doesn't believe America can achieve greatness through nationally implementing Democrat mass transit policies that have destroyed city government finances countless times.
High speed rail is the last thing you build when all the other stuff is at max capacity.
Imagine building a skyscraper and only put in express elevators. No stairs, escalators or regular lifts. Everybody goes on the express. How express would it be?

I don't generally like spending money to stroke someone's ego. Walls don't work without guards. How much are the guards, going forward?
Not true. You reliably support mass transit scams to stroke your own ego, in spite of all evidence. You don't support infrastructure projects that Trump proposes. Or jobs (like border wall guards) that can be attributed to him. You're all excited about the high speed rail boondoggle though, because it's a Democrat thing.

"Oh the infrastructure, and jobs created to build and maintain it!"
"The Wall?"
"Fuck no! Hundreds of miles of high speed rail going through the remote wilderness of Montana, because Switzerland has some!"
"Hey varmints, don't mess with a guy that's riding a buffalo"

Put a high speed rail on top of the wall.

I referred to light rail, not just high speed. Get people to their jobs, to their doctors, to shopping, to recreation. Comfortable and accessible to the average American. The lowering of the current death and injury automobile toll would be amazing on its own.

Why haven't these massive benefits appeared for the last X number of staggeringly-expensive mass transit boondoggles? Why is BART a homeless urinal on railroad tracks? Why do you keep buying re-tread lies? When given numerous mass transit projects to study, why do you discard what actually happens in favor of what Democrats say will happen (but never does)?

Why is Metro North nice? Why is the train from morris county to Penn station decent? These have actually happened so it's not impossible.

What we need is high speed rail connecting us to Europe.
