They're building a toll road in El Paso that can only be worked on for a few months out of the year. The reason is it goes over the rail lines, and the rail companies won't let them build while trains are going underneath. The management of the private rail companies have an interest in protecting their cargo and equipment.

The city of Miami doesn't seem to share that concern in protecting the people of Miami, seeing as they were allowing traffic to travel under a bridge while it was in construction.

I'm curious why I was reading that the bridge opened five days before it collapsed. That bridge wasn't complete.

If you watch one of the dash cam videos of the collapse, there was a bit of traffic, and a school bus was about five or six cars from the bridge.

These fuckers were doing stress tests and tightening cables with traffic running underneath, they didn't have the support cables installed. They already dicked around with the temporary supports.

Here is some news about this bridge collapse:

Engineers working on the bridge that fell on to a Florida highway Thursday had attempted to warn state officials about cracks on the walkway just two days before the deadly collapse, according to a voicemail transcript released Friday night by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

The lead engineer of FIGG Bridge Engineers, the company that led the design of the walkway, left a voicemail with FDOT Tuesday that said cracks had appeared on the bridge and were in need of repair.

But the message, left on a landline, was not listened to until Friday because the employee it was intended for was out of the office on assignment, the department said.

The buck doesn't stop with the people who designed and built the bridge. The buck stops (for some reason) with the people they called to say "hey, whoops, our bridge sucks, and is falling apart."
