A lot of people do think that, most folks have no idea what the actual benefits and drawbacks are when it comes to steroid use or abuse, and that is an extremely common misconception that the ignorant peddle.Speaker to Animals wrote:I swear to God, a lot of people think athletes just inject steroids and it automatically builds muscle for free.

For most athletes, these drugs allow for them to compress training time by accelerating recovery and hypertophie. Some of them give you the endurance and stamina boost, but those are easy to test for during the events.
Athletes can test "clean" but they used some PEDs like two years ago to accelerate training somehow. There's no way to test for that, and if they use something relatively benign and muted, like Sarms, it's not going to cause any health problems.
More likely, it helps them power through the strength microcycles in their metacycle program to focus more on skill training than they otherwise would. For example, a gymnast could spend a bit less time with hypertrophy cycles and more time on strength cycles, or possibly just a bit less time in strength training overall with more time devoted to skill work.

Just going by gymnastics again, the performance you see is the result of a certain number of hours in skill training. But he needs great strength to perform those kinds of skills. Strength training takes time too. Time not spent in skillwork. So one steroid cycle a few years ago could have given him a significant number of hours in skill training that he otherwise would not have. Two, three, and four years later, that effect is still in play even though he has not used steroids in years.
It's virtually impossible to police this shit.

StA doesn't always post quality content, but when he does it's refreshing. He's bang on, on this one.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

It is a little sad to me that you have continued to violate thread rules, despite being warned several times about your behavior. You seem to think that the thread demerits are not a big deal and that they will not affect future career moves. I'm sure that in the future when you try to move, the homeowners association of your new neighborhood will be delighted to welcome a repeat offender with multiple phpBB and BBC code hockey and insult infractions. I guess you could omit to mention your MHF demerits when you talk to the Homeowners association superintendent, but that would be lying, and I know you are above that. I just want you to do the right thing for once. Just watch the Olympics for once man. I'm not talking about having the tv on as background noise. Actually watch it. Think about how important the ideas it presents are. Performance enhancing drugs ruin human bodies and sports. I knew a buddy who took creatine after he worked out. He was in a wheelchair by age 30. He drove his car into a telephone pole, but I've got to believe that the reckless driving that preceded that came about because he took the supplement and thought he was invincible. He thought he was god. This kind of mentality pervades sports. The olympics is so important because it shows that athletes do not matter. It doesn't matter that they win or even perform. What matters is that they represent a country, and by showing up to the Olympics, they are helping to end world hunger, war, and carbon emissions. The olympics isn't about what you or I want, its about the future of this planet. One day soon, we will have a global government, and everyone will share everything. Private property will be abolished, as will message boards. Why would you need to communicate online with someone in Sweden, when you already know that he thinks the exact same way you do, and this thought is enforced by the mandate of the One World Global Government? There will be no need for cars and fossil fuels or sports. Sexual desire will be suppressed by the global government, and recognized as being the selfish activity it is. The global government will ban trash, because global citizens do not waste anything and put everything to use. Consumption is selfishness, and the global government will end private enterprise. We will be alive when this convergence happens, but until that time, we can all watch the Olympics, and acknowledge its signifigance. Be patient Capps. The Olympics will bring this paradigm shift about.StCapps wrote:heydaralon wrote:StCapps wrote:StA doesn't always post quality content, but when he does it's refreshing. He's bang on, on this one.

Oh, and dodgeball is illegal too, you know what I say,
If dodgeball is outlawed, then only outlaws will have dodgeballs and so on.
