Looks like the border wall is pointless. If criminals will just avoid guns laws, therefore making guns laws useless, then the same can be said for a border wall.

I understand the statement being made with that image, but I'm not buying it anymore. Las Vegas was my awakening. I've never cared about guns laws one way or other, but it's time things change. Sure, criminals will find ways around the laws, just like finding a way past a border wall. That doesn't stop us from coming up with laws and ways to enforce those laws.

I've been consistently conservative on most issues in recent years, but this is one where I am done siding with people who want dozens of non-hunting, non-self defense weapons just because they want to own them and shoot them for fun.

2nd Amendment says "Well Regulated Militia", the SCOTUS has pretty much ruled on that, you can regulate, but you can't regulate it into not being a Militia, and a Militia exceeds "self defense and hunting" by definition, so you're just going to be banging your head against wall with the Democrats for eternity, trying to make "Militia" into "hunting and personal defense", when that's not what constitution says.

It's paramilitary, the founders made it that way, and deliberately, you could change what the constitution says by amending it again, but until you do, you can't change what it says now.

The way to understand it, is like this; every adult American citizen is enrolled in a paramilitary organization, called the United States of America, whether they want to be or not, you're essentially drafted into this Well Regulated Militia, and it's not the state gaming and hunting commission, it is a paramilitary army, in each state, and every American has been in this paramilitary army, since 1776, and trying to defang that by saying "no, no, it's just for hunting", is a fool's errand, you're just pissing in the wind with that, not only is that unconstitutional, it's not even a popular position to take.
