I'm certainly not concerned with the markets, other than as a gambling tool. It's inflation that is about to get very, very real around here, and nobody is prepared for it.
You want a signal to watch? Check out spot gold and Bitcoin... Where else are you gonna go when stocks AND bonds lose money?
Bank on this: there have been thousands of ICOs this year, with massive loot pouring into made up currencies like, I shit you not, DickCoin, GayCoin, etc.
There is big bucks sloshing around the system right now, if there is money for dickcoin, there is money for more stawks.
I agree that big inflation could be right around the corner, but that will be good for some debt holders (like you and I).
Even if I keep my head above water, I need to get the fuck away from millions of people that suddenly can't afford rent, smokes, and gas - that's the real problem.

No it cannot. Government revenue = taxes remember? What happens to that revenue, if nobody can afford to buy? As the dollar plunges, imports plunge, and businesses start shutting down. More jobs lost. More infrastructure tumbles away.
What kind of interest rate does the government have to pay to sell bonds, once the dollar is falling? Who buys them?

Plus us late Gen Xers are using Amazon Prime for Christmas shopping for our kids. How did Moore survive and the other part of the Calvary get decimated? He didn't have much combat experience before then did he? Korean War heavy mortar company sees what kind of action?Smitty-48 wrote:But again, more to the point, you don't end up as the sort of country that would even spawn a pathetic wretch like Nukedog, if they don't lie to get America deep into Vietnam with 500,000 troops, and that all starts in one place, with one lie; in the shadow of the Chu Pong Massif.
Escalation in Vietnam was the big lie which broke America, and the little lie at LZ Albany in the Ia Drang, is the lie that made that happen.
If they had told the truth about what happened at LZ Albany, Johnson never would have been able to escalate in Vietnam, public opinion was teetering on the knife edge at the time, LZ Albany would have tipped it over into "get out now", but that's exactly why they lied, and in fact denied that it even happened at all.
Right at the critical moment when they are trying to close the deal on escalation and a "great victory" in the Ia Drang to support that, an entire American battalion gets ambushed and wiped out in the jungle....
....American government; "What battalion? Never happened..."
Even when Mel Gibson did his little movie there, When We Were Soldiers, he ends the script at the end of the day on the 16th of November, he never did When We Were Soldiers II, to tell the story of what happened the very next day.
Everybody knows who Lt. Colonel Hal Moore was, but nobody has ever heard of Lt. Colonel Robert McDade; for a reason.
Number of Americans killed in Vietnam before 15 November 1965; 1,394
Number of Americans killed after; 56,826.
"...to the men of the 2nd of the 7th who fought here and did a good job, you gentlemen who were not here can be proud of them, they died a dirty death, but they fought like hell, and I'm proud of them" ~ Lt. Larry Gwin, Company A, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment

So our credit stays good, even though the value of a bond is falling rapidly, the value of it completely in question... That's some serious optimism.apeman wrote:GrumpyCatFace wrote:Government revenue = taxes remember?

Re: It's Happening.
There was two battalions in the 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1/7 Cav under Moore, 2/7 Cav under McDade, 1/7 Cav pulled out of LZ X-Ray on the 16th, 2/7 Cav was sent in after, just to police up the area, which, at this point, they think the battle is over, so they are just bumbling around on the battlefield smoking and joking, I guess they thought the NVA ran off or something, they clearly weren't expecting to get ambushed.GloryofGreece wrote: How did Moore survive and the other part of the Calvary get decimated? As to Hal Moore's combat experience, I don't think he was in anything like LZ X-Ray in Korea, Ia Drang is literally one fo the most harrowing and fearsome battles in the history of the US military, but he performed well, considering the odds against him, at one point they are outnumbered 10-to-1

Play your part and buy bonds, everybody. Do it for the children.
