Newt Gingrich says Trump is done with ‘drain the swamp’

[T]he president-elect is apparently over “drain the swamp.”

That's according to Newt Gingrich, a top ally who told NPR in an interview that aired Wednesday morning that he was instructed not to use the phrase anymore because it has fallen out of favor with Trump.

“I'm told he now just disclaims that,” Gingrich said on “Morning Edition.” “He now says it was cute, but he doesn't want to use it anymore.”

I was hoping he would at least put forward some new lobbying rules as indicated on his campaign website.

Not the first time Newt has acted like a snake this year. What was the last time? Something about how terribly racist something Trump said was right after it was clear he was getting the nomination. Fuck Newt tbh

Melodrama aside, you don't have any valid criticisms of Trump. You just got done taking up three or four pages talking about how you're going to buy gold and cash out or something.

Newt is the same way. He loves the media attention he gets by doing this kind of signaling. He doesn't have any valid criticism of Trump, he's just latching on to the liberal narrative and exploiting it to his own perceived advantage. He's a fucking snake dude.

All evidence points to him passing off the actual presidential duties to his VP and children, and promoting his own businesses. He's the absolute pinnacle of a corrupt, cronyist bastard. He is regularly accused of fraud, never served in the military, and shows every sign of being a sociopath. At best, he's a populist rabble-rouser that's just spouting ridiculous shit for attention.

"Draining the swamp" has already gone great. Can't wait to see that 'big, beautiful wall' getting built. I'll just stand by with this bucket for moronic tears of rage, when they realize that they've been duped once again.

For nine years, from 2002 to 2011, a version of one of Donald Trump’s most extreme proposals was standard US government policy: requiring certain people in the US on visas from Muslim-majority countries to register with the government.

President Barack Obama suspended the program in 2011 — after years of complaints by civil rights groups that the program targeted Muslims and wasn’t effective in preventing terrorism. But it had never been fully dismantled — it was still sitting around for the Trump administration to dust off.

Until now.

On Thursday, the Department of Homeland Security published a regulation that would totally get rid of the National Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERS) — forcing the Trump administration to take the time to create something new, and giving civil rights groups an opportunity to stop them.

The regulation goes into effect Friday, December 22, well before President Trump is inaugurated. So when his administration takes office — if it’s serious about finding a way to register people from Muslim-majority countries in the US — it’s going to have to find another way to do it.

With general Kelly I feel the Department of Homeland Security is in really good hands.

Kelly I think is a model of a US soldier that cherishes the rights and freedoms the US stands for, understands the underlying societal and economic problems that create conflicts and crime, has lot of experience in Latin America and Iraq fighting a true insurgency and hence understands the real threat (not the hyped up threat meant to scare the shit out of the chicken little-voters) that there is against Continental US. He knows what the "War on Drugs" looks like outside the US. I think he's a brilliant pick to head the Department of Homeland Security.

Kelly is the total opposite of the Hollywood "tough guy" idiot that ignorant and stupid people think win insurgencies by being nasty or the tough talking populist political motherfucker that you can find around. Why Trump picked Kelly (or Mattis) I think is because he asked who are best retired generals out there that have beaten the enemy and been victorious in their assignments.
