The British blew themselves up at the Somme and then they had to come cap in hand to Wall Street in 1916.GloryofGreece wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 4:19 pmWhen exactly did we decide to take Britain's spot? Circa 1917 I'm thinking, no?

Re: Current US Military
Bear in mind that at the Somme the British had never used the New Artillery to its fullest extant.
They thought it would be like a tactical nuclear weapon.
It was supposed to be a Final Option.
The new super guns would win the war for them and the infantry would just walk over and occupy the wasteland.
Turns out no.
The Super Guns Final Option failed.
So now the war is a total stalemate, thus the British Empire has no choice but to go to Wall Street for a bailout.

Seems silly with hindsight of course, but each of the major British offensives were intended at the time to end the war on the spot.
The Somme was all in.
They brought the full weight of the British Imperial Army with the expectation it would win.
This is why it goes on for months and becomes a brutal meat grinder, yet still they won't stop.
They keep going, because they don't have a back up plan.

The judge made no recommendations on how the Selective Service process should change. However, there are 3 obvious options.
1) Do Nothing, leave the system in place. The American people likely DGAF
2) Change Selective Service Enrollment to include women, and all check your genders
3) End all Selective Service
Happy "Independence Day" Week, kids.

If non-veterans weren't allowed to vote, that wouldn't be a problem.
