Even Sweden sent troops to Afghanistan and we're not in NATO.

Good idea, Bjorn..
Hmmm.. It might be more practical to offer 750 Danes asylum in America if the Russians invaded. Not that it is very likely anybody would want to invade you except for all those jihadis, but you guys want them there, so what the fuck is America paying for here??
If Denmark were attacked instead on 9-11, it would still be this massive war waged by, and mostly paid for by, Americans. You sent 750 troops..
I dunno. Maybe we just did not negotiate with your military union reps very well. Hard to say what happened there.
Since 2002 the number of ground forces committed by the Danish army has been steadily increased from 50 to 750 soldiers and support staff.

I will grant you.. France actually commits even though we do not really get along at all. France and UK literally are the European wing of NATO. I do not understand what we are paying for with respect to everybody else.
Poland is good too.
You maxed out at 750 troops. That's basically TDY numbers from where I am used to.

In its first military deployment since 1815, Switzerland deployed 31 soldiers to Afghanistan in 2003, and two Swiss officers had worked with German troops. Swiss forces were withdrawn in February 2008.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

It was totally worth the trillions of dollars we throw at Europe.
This would have been the UK if Brexit never happened, only you'd not be able to opt out.
Consider, if England were attacked like we were, both our nations would commit massive numbers of troops and resources. Denmark would still only send a few hundred troops; If Denmark were instead attacked, they'd expect both of us to commit just as many troops, though they'd probably only then actually mobilize for war..
NATO sucks. The EU sucks for similar reasons.
If Euros think throwing numbers in the hundreds is going to make Americans think they pull their own weight, then wow. I would never have even brought those numbers into the discussion if I were defending NATO here.

Re: Europe, Boring Until it's Not
If the UK and France are the only Western European nations to commit meaningful numbers of troops from Western Europe when any of us are attacked, then why not just form an alliance with the UK and France alone, and offer support to everybody else only when it suits our common interests?
We could do the same deal with Poland.

Why does North Carolina need any sort of tangling military alliance with the UK or France at all?

LOL at you adding up deployments cumulatively as if you committed 20k troops at once.BjornP wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 6:34 amLol at 750.
