So are they just making sure that they can resist government overreach while they are out buying groceries?C-Mag wrote:Montegriffo wrote:Wow, that's some seriously scared people. Life is so dangerous they need to take their guns shopping. Sucks to be them.
Dan Carlin put it best years ago on the subject of guns and America. If you didn't grow up in the Culture you likely will never understand it, probably revile it. It's like trying to understand the cultural significance of eating Whale in Japan.
The way I try to get people to understand this is, it's not fear that makes US culture the most armed society in the world. It's part of our heritage, it's where we draw the line against government overreach. While the events of the original Patriots Day, April 19th, 1775 are not talked about much anymore, you have to understand what happened there to understand even have a chance at understanding this. Americans had there Free Speech infringed on, there houses occupied by Soldiers, there elected judges replaced by agents of the crown and it's people killed. They were willing to absorb all that. But the moment the Crown moved to take away our weapons we revolted. It was not the Continental politicians that revolted either, it was the people.
All culturals have there idiosyncrasies, one of out big ones happens to be firearms.
I look at those pics and I see three possibilities,
They live in such a dangerous area you can't go shopping without an AR15.
They are just dicks who want to look tough and are carrying because it's their right.
Or they are the next mall shooters.
How does your police force know whether they are harmless dicks or mass shooters?
Walk down the road with a rifle in the UK and the police shoot first and ask questions later. I just don't understand what your police are supposed to do.
It's their right to walk around like a private army so when the police do nothing and they go on a rampage who is to blame?
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Oh, I think I understand the whaling culture in Japan pretty well. If they offered me a spot, I might go along just to harpoon a whale, get my photo taken with the carcass, put that on a t-shirt, and then take another photo of me in the t-shirt just for Monty to get all butt-hurt.
Plus, Alexander would never beat that hunting photo.
They are fighting Quakers; they are Quakers with a vengeance.

Ummmm................... the Police are supposed to act when they see a crime being committed. Is that hard to understand ?Montegriffo wrote:So are they just making sure that they can resist government overreach while they are out buying groceries?C-Mag wrote:Montegriffo wrote:Wow, that's some seriously scared people. See, you call us scared, but look at what you just wrote. You guys are the ones scared of guns.
Like I said earlier it's really hard fro someone outside the culture to understand.
Question, I've read recently gun crimes are on the rise in England, what's up with that ?

The answer is obviously that more gun control is needed. That'll keep monte safe, in his own mind anyway.C-Mag wrote:Question, I've read recently gun crimes are on the rise in England, what's up with that ?

England probably needs more Muslims. That should pacify the nation.

Yep! A centuries old technology that can be created and assembled by anyone with modern tools, 3d printers, mini cnc machines, and youtube. Ban anything you like but it's not going away....Period!C-Mag wrote:3D Printers, Machinists, CNC machines................. it's everywhere.Speaker to Animals wrote: 3D printing is going to make this a moot point anyway. What does the UK even need a border for? Just let the whole world in, what could possibly go wrong?

It's because of immigration laws and border security that all those people got blown to bits and run over by trucks. Just stop killing us with the immigration laws, thanks.
