None of this would happen of course, because in reality, America is becoming increasingly pacified all the time, for all their talk of "civil war!", that's just a fringe of bloviating internet kooks, to wit; Live Action Role Playing fantasists, but in the real world, America is turning into Giant Canada, right before our eyes.ssu wrote:I agree.Smitty-48 wrote: Fair enough, but I think the country would implode into a civil war, you're in no position to go to war with the world, the nation is deeply divided and in a state of political disorder, and easily two thirds of the American republican divide would find the whole idea of going to war with the rest of the world to be utterly repugnant and in fact a casus belli to overthrow the government.
You're talking a Vietnam War like schism, scaled up by many many orders of magnitude, and it wouldn't be some sort of "just war" which could be sold to the American people as being a "necessity", and as such, it would incite a mutiny on a national scale.
In the case of such a mind bogglingly stupid and self destructive scenario, I actually think the officers in the US military would be the ones leading the mutiny tbh.
Get Americans to fight each other, start a civil war. But that's just part 1 of the warplan. The next phase in the plan (in this US against the rest war) would be to help the Americans by sending in peacekeepers. Help the poor American civilians caught in the crossfire. Help Americans to rebuild their political institutions. Assist in getting their economy up and running. All this helping through the UN, which could obviously do the job. In fact it would be the perfect pitch to sell the war against the US: it would be about helping the Americans. The US has given so much to the rest of the World, we have to help them at their time of need. Perfect war pitch!
Can you imagine drafting the American population now and trying to drop them into the Central Highlands to fight the NVA with bayonets? Washington wouldn't even try, they can only send robots out into indian country like that now, there's practically no fight left in America, contrary to the adolescent power fantasies of a tiny minority of wannabe prepper commandos, America is basically Avacado Latte Sipping Neckbeard Hipster Peacenik Nation; already
In Vietnam, it took 50,000 Americans killed to break the nations will to fight, in Iraq it took 5,000, in no time at all, the break will number will be 500.
