So you're saying there is an entry level position earning 100k+
I'll buy the plane ticket, where am I headed?
My specific niche is environmental and safety stuff. Dust collectors, hex chrome, explosive dusts, stuff like that.
Need a basic grasp of Algebra, and the ability to learn the rest. Just about every company in my field is looking very hard. I could PM you a couple companies who are looking. If you have any engineering background you're pretty much guaranteed a job. Non engineering background... they'll interview you to make sure you're smart enough to figure the stuff out and then hire you.

Try looking forward, not backward. You'll get further that way.
Yep, they have in Greece all those gizmos too.
Farmers owned lots of land and grew lots of food, man.
Now we don't.
Boo-hoo.
We used to have a lot of manufacturing jobs.
People did brainless bullshit on unionized assembly lines and lived well.
Now we don't.
Boo-hoo.
Today we have technology jobs.
We can be our own boss, cut deals with Chinese factories that used to only be open to global corps, mass market over the internet, innovate apps people pay big bucks for, star in our own internet TV shows, etc, etc, etc.
But people would rather bitch about not living like assembly-line schlubs.
Boo-hoo.
That's the connection.
It's all about lazy people preferring to leverage the power of government to give them what they think their parents had instead of leveraging their current advantages to achieve the lifestyle they want.

The problem we have now is that overall productivity has shot through the roof but wages have not increased accordingly. Minimum wage is the easiest way to measure.
We are the most productive we have ever been but we don't get paid like we are. The owners of the capital are certainly benefiting however.

Has the minimum wage worker's productivity shot through the roof?
No?
Hmmmmm . . . might be why they aren't reaping the returns.
My advice, don't be a minimum wage worker.
Leverage your advantages for yourself or find a better gig.

What's more to realize? It is what it is, it's not subtle, it's not particularly complex neither, in fact, back at the end of the 1980's, people were starting to say that this was going to happen, and it's not like I didn't believe them, but there was nothing I could do about it, so nothing worth worrying about, as, compared to Cold War nuclear anihiliation, sounded like a pretty good outcome in the end.The Conservative wrote:That's more true than I think you realize.Smitty-48 wrote:When I was young in the 1980's, I used to wonder what the future would be like, but turns out, it's just a big revival of the 1980's, forever and ever and ever, the rise of the internet, stopped the culture where it was, and its just been sitting there ever since.
And, I enjoyed the 1980's, and now that I'm here in the future, it's like the 1980's, except now I have money and cushy lifestyle as compared to then, so, good times, actually.

I was using minimum wage as a yardstick. The problem is across all incomes for the most part.
And in some cases yes, minimum wage workers have drastically increased productivity as well. Depends on what time frame you are talking about.
Look at McDonalds.

Did dropping a fry basket in oil become considerably more complex, demanding the talents of a more highly skilled worker lately?
