Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
As for me, I will thrive after The Collapse as a sex slave/vizier.
I've never been a rent boy, but I am familiar with the gear, so I bet I learn pretty quick how to pleasure a warlord, I am reasonably fit and good at strategy and diplomacy.
Plus, morally flexible, and will gladly assist in warlord deposition/assassination in the interest of getting even a marginally better deal.

Petit Warlordism is the crisis which breeds opportunity, as somewhat counterinituively, warlord's are not actually good at building armies, to build an army of quality, with the resolve to prevail, you need true beleivers, for true believers, you need a messianic cult of the personality. Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte, George Washington, etcetera

Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/what ... vive-trumpTrump has made many outlandish promises on his way to the presidency, and his aides have talked about a "First Day Project," modeled on Ronald Reagan's early time in office, where he signs executive orders that erases as much of Obama's accomplishments as he can. The cabinet appointees he's made—generals, billionaires, and Republican hardliners—have shown the extent to which he wants to remake the top tier of American government.
But Trump will have problems of his own. According to Gallup , he'll be the least popular present to take office in the last 20 years, while his predecessor, Obama, is one of the most popular outgoing presidents. He'll be walking a political tightrope, balancing the very different demands of his base, his cabinet, and Congressional Republicans. The consensus is that Trump will work to reverse Obama's legacy, but how he does that and what he replaces it with is an open question.
Like many presidents in their last days in office, Obama has obviously been thinking about what he's going to leave behind. In the run-up to the election, the president sat down with historian Doris Kearns Goodwin for Vanity Fair, and talked about posterity: "Sometimes I carry with me that perspective, which tells me that my particular worries on any given day—how I'm doing in the polls, or what somebody is saying about me… for good or for ill—isn't particularly relevant," he said. "What is relevant is: What am I building that lasts?"
To answer that question, I surveyed policy experts and journalists, and here's what they told me:

Ronald Reagan approval rating 1980; 40%
Donald Trump approval rating 2016; 41%
Been here before, heard this all before.
By the time the Nostaligia for an America that was is finished with him, Trump will have been beatified as a secular Saint, just like Ronald Reagan.
Same with George W. Bush by the way, by the time the NFAATNW is finished with him, the Iraq War will simply be the Great Crusade which was stabbed in the back by the Liberal Criminals.
Even Nixon will be rehabilitated in the end, given enough time.

NO SHTF. Abandoned areas in metropolis, eh. Poverty in 80% of the country, eh. Oasis of tranquility in midsize cities and "priced-out" communities, eh.
No SHTF though. I feel better than ever about that prediction. Could go full police state, no SHTF though unless some sort of food and electricity crisis.
As far as gold...I was bigly goldbug. Looking around the world though where you gonna trust your money?

The perpetual American Doom, has been with you since the Puritans set foot to ground in the 17th century, it's a kind of escapism which is deeply ingrained in the American bones, by way of the Protestant Calvinists, Apochalypticism is as American as apple pie and baseball.
