If you're growing food on a farm, you should also have some beehives to pollinate your crops. Honey from your hives can make mead without sacrificing valuable food crops to make vodka. You can drink the mead, and trade it. You can't make kerosene.Penner wrote:Vodka you can also drink!Okeefenokee wrote:Kerosene, 3 bucks a gallon.Penner wrote:
Make sure you have some cigs and booze stash around. You can use the booze (Everclear or vodka high-proof, like a 70%) as an emergency antiseptic for wounds. I shit you not, you can use it and you can also drink it.
Vodka, 100 bucks a gallon.
Both can sterilize wounds. Both can make you warm.

WROL scenario you can just make your own hooch, if you're going to pay good money for liquor, at least make it whisky, vodka is not worth the weight.

If you must grow feedstock to make beer or liquor, you can feed the distiller's grain to livestock for a nutrition boost after you've used it to make booze.

It's anecdotal, but I've always found salt water to be a good way to heal wounds fast. Any scraped knees or other wounds always seemed to heal faster when I was in the ocean every day.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Kings_MountainReceiving intelligence on the oncoming attack, Ferguson decided to retreat to the safety of Lord Cornwallis' army. However, the Patriots caught up with the Loyalists at Kings Mountain near the border with South Carolina. Achieving a complete surprise, the Patriot militiamen attacked and surrounded the Loyalists, inflicting heavy casualties. After an hour of battle, Ferguson was fatally shot while trying to break the rebel line, after which his men surrendered. Some Patriots gave no quarter until the rebel officers re-established control over their men; they were said to be seeking revenge for alleged killings by Banastre Tarleton's men of militiamen at the Battle of Waxhaws, under the slogan "Remember Tarleton's Quarter." Although victorious, the Patriots had to retreat quickly from the area for fear of Cornwallis' advance. Later they executed nine Loyalist prisoners after a short trial.
The battle was a pivotal moment in the Southern campaign. The surprising victory of the American patriot militia over the Loyalists came after a string of rebel defeats at the hands of Lord Cornwallis, and greatly raised the Patriots' morale. With Ferguson dead and his Loyalist militia destroyed, Cornwallis was forced to abandon his plan to invade North Carolina and retreated into South Carolina.
