The House and Senate intelligence committees are expanding their investigation into the so-called “unmasking” controversy, Fox News has learned, to examine whether other candidates or lawmakers beyond President Trump’s associates were affected.
Until now, the investigation focused on how the identities and communications of Trump transition members were collected by U.S. intelligence agencies and then revealed to, and disseminated among, high-ranking members of the Obama administration.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., now plans to audit files from the National Security Agency and White House to determine whether identities and conversations of presidential candidates — or members of Congress — also were swept up during NSA surveillance of foreign leaders.

As Trump has now committed to the long term US foreign policy and definately the honeymoon is over, this whole thing might just go as your "ordinary" Iran-Contra style scandal, where just some little people (like Carter Page) go to jail / get slap on the wrist.

Because the longer the Trump presidency goes on and shows it doesn't appease Russia, the real fear will die down.

Of course not in the democratic camp, but that's just ordinary US politics...

1. Russia, Russia, Russia. Maybe Carter Page committed a Crime
2. BHO Spying on the Trump team............. Maybe Susan Rice will go to jail.
3. What is the nature of acceptable relationships for foreign powers and our politicians? Questions I have.
a. Are politicians or their special interests allowed to accept money from foreign powers?
b. What is allowed conversation and when does it cross the line?
4. Internal Spying on Americans
a. I want full candor and open reporting on just what in the hell is going on with this. I don't buy this 'swept up' shit at all.

Interesting development:

Remember when Andrew Napolitano accused Obama wiretapping Trump using British GCHQ? A bit far fetched idea, but some things may be true.

GCHQ first became aware in late 2015 of suspicious “interactions” between figures connected to Trump and known or suspected Russian agents, a source close to UK intelligence said. This intelligence was passed to the US as part of a routine exchange of information, they added.

Over the next six months, until summer 2016, a number of western agencies shared further information on contacts between Trump’s inner circle and Russians, sources said. The European countries that passed on electronic intelligence – known as sigint – included Germany, Estonia and Poland. Australia, a member of the “Five Eyes” spying alliance that also includes the US, UK, Canada and New Zealand, also relayed material, one source said.

Another source suggested the Dutch and the French spy agency, the General Directorate for External Security or DGSE, were contributors. The Guardian has been told the FBI and the CIA were slow to appreciate the extensive nature of contacts between Trump’s team and Moscow ahead of the US election. This was in part due to US law that prohibits US agencies from examining the private communications of American citizens without warrants. “They are trained not to do this,” the source stressed.

“It looks like the [US] agencies were asleep,” the source added. “They [the European agencies] were saying: ‘There are contacts going on between people close to Mr Trump and people we believe are Russian intelligence agents. You should be wary of this.’

Two things to notice:

1) Basically Napolitano's quite lurid tale of Obama using GCHQ became a distraction from the actual story, that the British intelligence service had picked up the Trump-Russia connection and notified the Americans.

2) Who did GCHQ pick up in late 2015? The foreign advisory board (with Carter Page) was informed in 2016, and Manafort came to be Trump's campaign manager in 2016 also.

I don't buy this 'swept up' shit at all.

The initial notice is likely to have 'swept up' from surveillance on Russian spies. But after that, it's a bit different story. If a Mr Page is involved with Russian spies in 2013, that makes him a person that the intelligence sector will keep taps on. If he pops up in the US elections as he did, it would be a pretty lousy job for the FBI not to look at what the guy is doing.

One thing is to say that Obama would start some quite Nixonian operation himself, another thing is to think about if the FBI followed earlier what the GCHQ was doing.
