Re: The internet takeover thread
I applaud the UK government for taking this bold step to secure the Internet for the British people. But because this is a small operation, I am afraid we are going to have to block all traffic coming from the UK.
Hopefully Canada will follow in their brave footsteps.

I don't think Canada has any servers.
Every single ostensibly Canadian website seems to be hosted in the US.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Ben Garrison represents typical American conservative sentiment in his cartoons. I'm not a big fan of his but I enjoyed his content and the /pol/ edits during the 2016 campaign. It says a lot when such formerly, normal, political views are being deplatformed from social media. I have tried to make people understand that his views are representative of a spectrum of views that are not welcome at all anymore.

We can't allow bigoted racist homophobic islamophobic Nazi terrorist views like his.TheReal_ND wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 9:50 pmBen Garrison represents typical American conservative sentiment in his cartoons. Allowing them would be "problematic".

Why do you deny this Monty?Montegriffo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 8:52 pmYawn,
We all know that Instagram, as a private company, has the right to allow or deny anyone they want on their platform, but it fosters an environment where people, like yourself, are ok with criminalizing speech and expression

Because that cartoon would not get the artist arrested in the UK.California wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 6:04 amWhy do you deny this Monty?
Facebook and Instagram blocking far right groups here has nothing to do with our courts.
That decision came from headquarters in California.
Either a private company can refuse service for any reason it wants or else bake that gay wedding cake. You can't have it both ways.

Re: The internet takeover thread
I said a private company can do what it wants, the problem here is the overall chilling effect on certain kinds of speech.
You guys have already lost it, we're still hanging on by a thread. Even less so in enclaves like the one I live in
