They aren't being barred from the US because they followed the rules, they are being barred because their claims are bullshit and they are economic migrants. Showing up to a port of entry improves your chances of asylum, crossing illegally decreases your chances. If you are an economic migrant trying to jump the line with a bullshit asylum claim, or you cross through countries that offered you asylum and you refused it because you won't settle for any country other than America, you're going to get rejected, who knew?

Fine, he lied. But don’t pretend that this was any sort of ‘implied’ or ‘metaphorical’ wall. It was a physical barrier, coast to coast.
